Update on the Shrader

Memorial Garden

The final phase of the Shrader Memorial Garden

renovation will be completed this spring when a

sculpture is installed as a focal point for the

space. This will be a three–part sculpture

representing the Trinity and will be rising from the

ground in the area covered by ground cover.

The sculpture is being fabricated in bronze by

Midland artist Jim Ardis and has been carefully

conceived to reflect Alden Dow’s vision to merge

the architecture and nature in the buildings he

designed. Drawings of the sculpture as it will look

in the garden are on display today, located next

to the garden entrance. Stop by and take a look.

Members of The Garden Committee will be on

hand to answer questions. Anyone interested in

donating to the sculpture should contact Leslie

Hiltunen in the church business office.

UMCOR is with us providing relief

from the June floods

The United Methodist Committee on Relief is coordinating relief in our

Midland area through local churches and volunteers. This month,

drywall was installed in three homes by a team of volunteers from Trinity Lutheran and Habitat. Members of our church provided lunches for 25 people and met with grateful home owners. Our church made a donation for continued rehabilitation work. Katie and Anne represent UMCOR through the Midland Flood Recovery. They can be contacted at 989-486 -8784.

Owners of many more homes have been identified as needing assistance. How can we help? Provide funding Provide lunches

Do carpentry and other hands-on contributions

UMCOR continues to offer assistance in Texas as 50,000 to 100,000 homes remain in need of rehabilitation. We thank God that a team from Midland FUMC could serve in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. All donations to UMCOR go directly to the projects. UMCOR works globally to alleviate human suffering and advance hope and healing.
