*CALL TO WORSHIP
The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in love.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest!
Let us worship God.
*HYMN NO. 197 Hosanna, Loud Hosanna ELLACOMBE
(Congregation may join in the palm parade during the hymn.)
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Marland Pittman
Loving God, we confess we are a people of dust and ashes.
We join the parade and shout hosanna,
then deny our Lord in his hour of need.
We wave the palms and sing praise,
then hand our Savior over to die.
Forgive us, God of grace.
Our lives are in your hands – deliver us from evil.
Save us by your steadfast love, through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
*SILENCE FOR PERSONAL PRAYER AND REFLECTION
*KYRIE ELEISON (Lord, have mercy) Russian Orthodox
*DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
Friends, Christ has heard your prayer of remorse. You are
forgiven.
With courage and confidence we can take up the cross of
Christ.
Your past is wiped clean. What you do for others is not done
alone.
Christ is with us to strengthen us, to deliver us from enemies,
and to raise us up to new life.
*SHARING THE PEACE
The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.

Ride on King Jesus! No man can hinder me.
I was but young when I begun, No man can hinder me.
But now my race is almost done, No man can hinder me.
King Jesus rides on a milk white horse, No man can hinder me.
The river Jordan he did cross, No man can hinder me.
If you want to find your way to God, No man can hinder me.
The gospel highway must be trod, No man can hinder me.

MUSIC IN WORSHIP
The Chancel Choir (11:00) sings the African-American spiritual
“Ride On, King Jesus,” arranged by Robert Shaw (1916 -1999) and
Alice Parker (born 1925). Jesus is heralded as guardian, conquering
hero, and king as he crosses the Jordan River astride a “milk-white
horse.” Like most spirituals, this one was sung by the slaves to
express not just their trials and tribulations, but also their hope of a
better day. As we sing and hear the spiritual, we can take solace, as
the song suggests, that no one can hinder us with God on our side.
One Great Hour of Sharing Special Offering
A gift to One Great Hour of Sharing enables the church to share
God’s love with our neighbors-in-need around the world by
providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, supplying
food to the hungry, and helping to empower the poor and oppressed.
Northminster’s offering will be received TODAY. Envelopes are in
the pew racks or in member’s envelope boxes.
