What is ANTHROPOMETRICS ?

The study of the human body and its movement.

The study of the human body and its movement, ofteninvolving research into measurements relating to people. Italso involves collecting statistics or measurements relevant

to the human body, called Anthropometric Data.

What is ERGONOMICS ?

The study of people and their relationship with theenvironment around them.

When anthropometric data (measurements / statistics) isapplied to a product, e.g. measurements of the hand are

used to design the shape and size of a handle, this isergonomics.

ANTHROPOMETRICS APPLIED

TO AN HAIR DRYER

Anthropometric data (measurements) are used todetermine the shape of handle and distance to be held fromhead. Designed for average size hand. The length of lead is

determined from anthropometric data (length of averagearms and average height of users). The hair dryer is now

ergonomically designed.
