Introduced in 2012, to-date, the ISBSF programme has benefitted at least 467 million cummulative daily passengers travelling along 411 routes (until June 2017).The ISBSF fund acts as an interim measure to cover the shortfalls in daily operations of affected stage bus operators, especially on social routes (routes that are less profitable to the operators). RM79.4 million ISBSF fund disbursed in 2017 provided much needed lifeline for 61 Stage Bus Operators. The marked reduction in ridership in 2017 resulted from commuters shifting to the myBAS services introduced in capital cities under SBST
