To accept into our care children who have been
abandoned or orphaned, especially those infected
or affected by HIV /AIDS.
To provide these children with a caring Christian
environment whereby they will be nurtured and
cared for:
Physically
Emotionally
Spiritually
with unconditional love.
We recognise the exceptional vulnerability of these
children and proclaim that they are entitled to
special care and assistance by their caregivers.

March 2007 – February 2008 7
A word from the Chairman:
It is with great pleasure that I present this report covering another year in the life of Lambano and reflect on
some of the challenges and highlights of the year March 2007 to February 2008.
Little did we know when this ministry was initiated in 2001, that some of the children taken in then, would live to
attend school, and be well adjusted, responsive learners. We have 9 children attending Wychwood Primary
School, 6 in grade 1 and 3 in grade 2, and one attending a school for partially sighted learners.
The homes continue to provide a homely and loving environment for the children, with good nutrition, medical
care and educational as well as spiritual stimulation. Most of the children are on anti-retroviral drugs.
Our assistance to HIV infected and affected children in Katlehong and Germiston by the provision of food,
shelter, school clothing, medication, health care and training continues, to date over 1000 people have been
assisted.
We are grateful to God for those who give of their time and talents to assist in this calling. A doctor and
occupational therapist who assist us in Katlehong, teachers who assist the learners and pre-school children at
the homes and many other volunteers from schools and universities in our area, as well as teams from the USA.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the dedicated staff and management team who so ably and
efficiently carry out all the multiplicity of duties in order to provide for the smooth running of these various
ministries. A special word of thanks to Lyn Croote, our Executive Director, for her tireless work and leadership.
My thanks also to the members of the board.
As is often the case with a non-profit, donor dependent organisation, there have been times when we have
been uncertain where the necessary funds for salaries and essentials for the month end will come from.
However God is faithful and we have been amazed at His provision on every occasion. Our grateful thanks, to
all those who have shared in this ministry, by your donations, of money, time and expertise.
Looking forward, we are hoping to open a 10 bed hospice for children this year (2008). The main goal of our
hospice is to provide a continuum of comprehensive palliative care services, to HIV affected and infected
children. Our objective is to improve the quality of life of HIV infected children with advanced HIV disease, and
to address the psycho-social needs of these children.
It has been a real privilege to chair the board meetings, especially as the members of the board are of one
mind, to provide the best possible care within the resources available, to the children who are the recipients of
this care, to the honour and glory of God.
Yours in His service,
Peter Hendey,
Chairman of the Board of Directors
Lambano Sanctuary.

Psalm 66 (ESV)
5. Come and see what God has done;
he is awesome in his deeds toward the
children of men
Another year has passed, we are grateful to the Lord for showing us his grace and
loving kindness.
This year we are blessed to have nine children attending Primary School, three
children have graduated to Grade 2 and six children started Grade 1. They are all
enjoying school and their grades have been good.
Our permanent children have been very healthy and they are doing well on their
Anti-Retroviral drugs. We are still experiencing an increase in sick children and
are more convinced than ever of the need of a Hospice.
The Katlehong Project is going very well with us feeding over 40 families a week.
We are currently looking for funding to implement a garden project in Katlehong.
This project will provide a garden for each family we are feeding, to enable them to
become more sustainable.
The clinic that we run in Katlehong has also been a great success and has helped
us identify those children who need urgent medical care. We are still challenged by
the lack of care at the local Hospital and the failure of the ARV Clinic to monitor these
sick children adequately.
In spite of these challenges we remain optimistic and trust in the Lord daily for our
needs.
I wish to thank all our sponsors who have made it possible for us to take care of these
children, enabling us to give them as normal a life as possible.
Lyn Croote
Executive Director
