associates on 1/3/18.
In the Survey Camp using Total Station, the modern Total Station we use is a
combination of an electronic the dolomite, an electronic distance meter (EDM) and
software running on external computer known as data collector. Knowledge in using
Total Station offers careers in various segments where total Station finds application in
Civil Construction Companies
Surveying: Survey and Land records
Disaster Management
Archaeological Survey
The workshop aims to provide adequate working knowledge on total stations which are
widely in use across civil engineering and other industries.

examinations are conducted with utmost care given to transparency and fairness. The hall tickets
are issued to the students well in advance. Any grievance related to the hall ticket like printing of
wrong name or delay in issuance is addressed by the exam cell. The exam cell immediately

Annexure-III
BEST PRACTICE -1
TITLE OF THE PRACTICE: NCC Activity-Visit to orphanage
CONTEXT:
Whoever you are, whether you’re a teacher, parent, or young person wanting to make a
change, volunteering in an orphanage is a perfect opportunity to make a positive impact on
somebody else’s life.
As said by Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what
we give.”
Orphans, especially those who have been abandoned, often suffer hugely for the rest of their
lives. They may feel an overwhelming sense of loneliness and feeling of neglect which no matter
how they are cared for later in life cannot cure this feeling, particularly when they see other
children with their parents. In addition, depending on the circumstances for the loss of their
parents, for example a terminal illness or a murder, this can be very traumatizing for a child, and
they will certainly carry this ordeal with them for the rest of their lives. This trauma and sadness
will in many cases lead to a variety of mental health issues, like depression, which will in turn
affect their lives both socially and financially in the future, as finding a job or achieving goals is
often hindered by a lack of motivation and purpose in these cases.
THE PRACTICE:
Our college students donated food for 50 orphan school students at JM BETHESTA NEW LIFE
CENTER, Muchumilli road, Ramachandrapuram on occasion of MOTHER TERESA’s birthday.
This centre is the place where children who became orphans due to different reasons were taken
care and education is being provided.
Every year our college students celebrate mother Theresa’s birthday by helping the poor and
needy.
On this event, our college students collected some amount of money with which they have
purchased daily needs for the students in orphanage for maintaining hygienic environment in the
orphanage.
Students served food for the children and distributed the snack items.
Problems encountered and Resources required:
Identifying the real orphanages with good care taking motive in and around the city has become
a problem. Many orphanages have sprung up just for receiving the donations by the government
and they are not taking proper care of the children in the orphanage.
So we have solved the issue by having proper analysis of the orphanage and its recognition with
the state government.

Evidence of success:
Founder of the JM BETHESTA NEW LIFE CENTER says that VSM college students have
done great job and appreciated the students for the time being spent on social responsibility.
Students explained the need for staying motivated in the present society and suggested how to
take life in a challenging way and how to learn from inspiring life of other persons. After these
discussions, the children in the orphanage felt motivated with the positive energy of students.
Best practice 2
Title of the Practice: Blood Donation Camp- “Donate Blood .save Life.”
1. Context
The most significant contribution to the best performance of human body is due to the
healthy blood. Blood plays a vital role in human body. It shares a major part to support the
functioning of the body, by circulating the food and oxygen to the whole body. The scarcity
of the blood is harmful to the body and in some cases, it may lead to death. A person requires
blood when he is abrupt by an accident or an operation. There may be a large loss of the
blood during these circumstances and person requires the external source of blood. It is when
blood donors play the considerable role in saving lives of people. Blood donors in India
donates around 350 millilitres of blood. After a donation, the donors are provided with
refreshments, which usually include a glucose drink, biscuits and fruits. Some organizations
offer transportation facilities, apart from providing certificates or badges as a gratitude.
2. Objectives
To create awareness and motivate people for Blood Donation. Starting from Colleges, we
are now moving towards the Corporate Sector, Residential Areas.
To help anyone, in case of any requirement for blood.
Build wider public awareness of the need for regular blood donation throughout the year
in order to maintain an adequate supply of blood for all patients requiring transfusion
Encouraging people to help each other
3 .Practice and Implementation:
NSS unit of our college organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with Sri Chilukuri
Seva Samithi in the college campus every year.
A member from rotary club expressed his gratitude to NSS unit of the college for its
continuous endeavour in this regard. He also stressed on the growing need of blood in the state
and commended the young volunteers for their noble act.
The Camp was inaugurated by principal and 112 volunteers came forward to donate
blood during the camp. The blood donors were given Apple, Banana, Biscuits and frooti after
donating the blood in order to reenergize themselves.
Along with this, we will test blood group details for the first year students who entered
the college every year. This year, we tested blood group for 130 students in first year B .Tech.

AQAR 2017-18, V.S.M. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, RAMACHANDRAPURAM Page 58
4. Problems encountered and Resources required:
We are unable to increase the number of blood donors as there is less awareness among the
students regarding the advantages of blood donation.
So we planned to conduct blood donation awareness campaigns in college to
educate the students regarding the value of blood donation.
“Donate blood save life” slogan was given to students .Principal sir conducted meeting
after blood donation camp and suggested continuing this habit of blood donation not only in
college but in life, as blood donation saves life of many who are in need of blood.
5. Evidence of Success:
Rotary blood bank Kakinada presented the certificate of appreciation and one year
insurance certificate to students who donated blood.
First year students got to know the importance of knowing their blood group in
emergency situations.
Doctor from rotary blood bank appreciated the donors as well as college. Every year
VSM college had been conducting blood donation Camps in college. He also said that our
college management and students are very cooperative and have helping nature. He concluded
that in any emergency, Donors can walk in with their identity cards to the blood bank to get a
blood for someone in need.
