ANNEXURE-I Scope of Work and Technical Specifications: This Section defines the scope of Work & Technical Specifications for Designing, Fabrication, Installation and Functional Testing of laboratory Furniture and Fixture items: 1.0 Scope of Work: The scope of work shall include but not to be limited to as follows: 1.1 Designing of Furniture and Fixture Items: Designing of laboratory furniture and fixture as per enclosed Departmental Drawings and Specifications. 1.2 Approval of Detailed Drawings & Specifications: Submission of detailed Drawings and Specification for approval before fabricating. 1.3 Fabrication of Item: Fabricating the work benches (Island Modes), anti-vibration tables, sink units, fume hoods without blower, electrical duct on bench, service capping comprising of service line under bench, service panel under bench and service line support, etc. The top of the service capping should have the provision for electrical receptacles and valves. All the above laboratory items should be fabricated at factory / workshop as per detailed specification & approved drawings. 1.4 Assembly / Installation / Commissioning / Finishing Work / Functional Test: Assembly of the items, their Installation and Erection as per enclosed layout in Chemistry Control Laboratory, RAB-8 at RAPP-7&8. ANNEXURE-I

Scope of Work and Technical Specifications:

This Section defines the scope of Work & Technical Specifications for Designing, Fabrication,

Installation and Functional Testing of laboratory Furniture and Fixture items:

1.0 Scope of Work:

The scope of work shall include but not to be limited to as follows:

1.1 Designing of Furniture and Fixture Items:

Designing of laboratory furniture and fixture as per enclosed Departmental Drawings and

Specifications.

1.2 Approval of Detailed Drawings & Specifications:

Submission of detailed Drawings and Specification for approval before fabricating.

1.3 Fabrication of Item:

Fabricating the work benches (Island Modes), anti-vibration tables, sink units, fume hoods

without blower, electrical duct on bench, service capping comprising of service line under

bench, service panel under bench and service line support, etc. The top of the service capping

should have the provision for electrical receptacles and valves. All the above laboratory items

should be fabricated at factory / workshop as per detailed specification & approved drawings.

1.4 Assembly / Installation / Commissioning / Finishing Work / Functional Test:

Assembly of the items, their Installation and Erection as per enclosed layout in Chemistry

Control Laboratory, RAB-8 at RAPP-7&8. Installation / Erection will include final finishing,

painting etc. Installation will be inspected by the Engineer in Charge. Deficiencies will be

corrected to the satisfaction of the Engineer in Charge. Commissioning / Functional Testing

for all items will be done by the Contractor to the satisfaction of the Engineer in Charge.

2.0 Technical Specification for Laboratory Furniture and Fixture:

Detailed Technical Specification of Items and Quantities of items to be Designed, Fabricated,

Transported, Assembled, Erected & Commissioned / Functionally Tested in Chemistry Control

Laboratory, in RAB-8 at RAPP-7&8 as per approved layout are described in the enclosed

sheets.

2.1 Material Description:

Steel:

High quality hot dipped galvanized steel sheet of 19 gauge with guaranteed minimum yield

strength meets ASTM A653-09 grade 37 and as per IS:277. Should be adequately levelled, with

sheet levelling machine.

1) Stainless Steel: Grade SS-304.

2) Knuckles Hinges: Should be made up of SS-304.

3) Handles: ‘Flush’ type Anodized Aluminium powder coated handles.

4) Locks: Five pin levers, tumbler cylinder with at least two keys and with nickel chrome plating finish.

5) Shutters: Double skin doors along with positive catch arrangement. The shutters should have central partitioning. For better strength and to avoid sagging each shutter should be clamped with at least 2 or 3 SS-304 knuckles hinges as per the height requirement. One knuckle hinge per 300 mm height should be considered.

6) Gaskets: Medium density foamed polyethylene plastic should be used on shutters fronts.

7) Sound dampening core: low density foamed polyethylene should be used between double walls of shutter fronts for sound dampening.

8) Fasteners: All fasteners should be corrosion resistant either of steel with zinc plating or stainless steel, according to service condition.

9) Levelling Feet: Nylon coated chemical resistant levelling feet of steel for height correction and levelling should be provided for final adjustment. Black plastic spats with load bearing surface (suitable for 100 kg load) should be provided to cover the levelling feet after adjustment.

2.2 Finishing of Steel Surface and Epoxy Powder Paint:

In order to have a better and more uniform surface finish with high degree of impact, scratch

and corrosion resistance when compared to conventionally Stove Baked Liquid Painting

System, it is required to have the pure polyester powder coating on surfaces. All steel

surfaces for the laboratory furniture should be treated with zinc phosphate in multistage

process of coating thickness 2.5 to 4.5 gm/sqm.

The GI Steel (TATA Steel / Essar / Jindal / Sail) surface should be treated with multistage

different tanks (minimum 10 tanks) consisting of alkaline degreasing solution, acid de-rusting

solution with inhibitors, phosphate solution and a passivating chemical solution with dipping

in tanks containing water while changing over from one solution to the other (Powder paint to

a thickness of approx. 60 microns).

2.3 General Construction:

1) Shutters:

The shutters should be double walled sandwich construction of 19 mm thickness with

sound deadening core and gaskets all around on periphery. The shutters should be

interchangeable without any special tools. For better strength and to avoid Sagging each

shutter should be clamped with minimum three numbers of SS-304 knuckles.

2) Under Bench Storage Modules:

It should have integral recessed handles and its doors should be fitted with adequate

numbers of SS-304 knuckles in Skin passed / zero spangles G.I. Steel (minimum

thickness not less than 1mm). Exterior / Interior of base Unit and Storage Modules should

be finished with pure epoxy powder coating applied electro statically which should be

resistant to acidic fumes. All storage modules should have built in standard locking

arrangement with at least two (02) keys.

3) Table Tops / Work Tops:

The working surface should be in 18 mm ± 1 thick Jet-Black Granite construction. The granite should be acid and alkali proof, high wear resistant, good cleanability and having the property of radiation resistance.

4) Laboratory Fittings:

All laboratory fittings should be made of brass as per IS 8737, 2007 with pure epoxy powder coated finish and should have colour coded control knobs for easy identification of services. The valves should have non-rising spindle and replaceable wearing parts. All valves should be tested to 1.5 times of 4 bar pressure (i.e. common service lines pressure in laboratory).

5) Laboratory Sinks and Drip Cups:

The sinks and drip cups should have lipped edge on top. The sinks should be made from Poly propylene co-polymer resin. Polypropylene to have very high resistance to attack from a wide range of chemicals and the ability to withstand temperatures up to 100 deg C. The sink / drip cup should have waste coupling of 1¼” BSP threads for further connection of waste line plumbing. The waste coupling should be of chemical resistance materials.

6) Drain Lines and Piping Work:

All the supply, services and power lines like Demineralised Water (CPVC, 1" dia. pipe), Domestic water (UPVC, 1" dia. pipe) and instrument air (SS-304, 0.5" dia. pipe), Drain lines (HDPE, 1.5" dia. pipe) and power lines (2.5 sq.mm 3 core wire with PVC conduit size 1” dia. pipe) should be supplied, installed and commissioned by the Supplier by connecting the all work bench, work bench sinks, fume hood & fume hood sink units drains to their respective main supply lines and to drain points existing at the Chemical Lab area at RAB-8, 105 m EL.

7) Glass Tops (Transparent and Toughened)

The transparent, toughened glass tops of 10 mm thickness with rounded corner and sides should be supplied for the working surface of all the work bench tops and working surface areas.

8) Colour Combination:

All types of laboratory furniture should be finished with pure polyester powder coating

applied electro-statically in colour combination of Dusky Blue or other as per selection of

the Engineer in Charge which should be resistant to acidic fumes.

4) Assurance / Certificate regarding minimum 1000-hour salt spray test report for powder coating quality assurance to be provided.

STANDARD FUME HOOD PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

A. Fume hoods shall be of complete airfoil design to insure maximum operating efficiency. Foil

sections at the front fascias of the hood shall minimize eddying of air currents at the hood face

and the rear baffle system shall minimize turbulence in the upper portion of the hood interior.

B. Standard Fume Hood Types:

B.1 Constant Bypass Type Fume-hood for Chemistry Control Laboratory in RAB-8 at RAPP-7&8. The fume hoods shall be of the Constant bypass type in which the exhaust air volume constant

when used with a hood.

B.2 Location of Tests and Test Facility: All tests referenced herein shall be performed in the bidder’s Fume Hood Test Facility &

at least 1 No. Fume Hood shall be inspected as per Point No. B.4 Guideline for per

exhaust cluster at RAPP-7&8 Site. The Supplier should provide all the test facility during

performance check of Fume Hood.

B.3 Instrumentation, Equipment and Test Personnel:

2) All the Instrument Tables (IT), Large Instrument Tables (LIT), Anti-Vibration Table (AVT), Island Bench (IB), Shift Chemist Table (SCT) should be provided as per following tests along with Test Certificates as Per SEFA Guidelines.

Base cabinet load test, Base cabinet torsion test, Base cabinet door load test, Pencil Hardness Test with Test Certificate, Scratch Test with Test Certificate, Micron Test with Test Certificate, Tubular Impact Test with Test Certificate, Erichen Cupping Test with Test Certificate, Salt Spray Test: 1000 hours salt spray test capability with Test Certificate, Bend Test with Test Certificate. Once sample-based inspection for few tests will be witnessed by RAPS NPCIL representative but final inspection & acceptance will be done at RAPP-7&8 Site.

Qualified personnel to perform the tests shall be supplied by the bidder. Instrumentation and

equipment required shall be supplied by the bidder at his expense.

B.4 SITE Standard 110-1995 Test:

Hood shall be tested with a face velocity of 100 FPM full open vertically and at 100 FPM right, left and centre 100% open horizontally. The hood shall have a performance rating of 4.0 AM 0.01 or better wherein:

4.0 = tracer gas release in LPM AM = as manufactured 0.01 = level of control of tracer gas in parts per million (ppm).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED BY THE SUPPLIERS:

1) All components shall conform to relevant up to date Indian Standard Specifications, wherever existing irrespective of whether explicitly mentioned or not.

2) All electrical work shall be carried out in accordance with the provision of Indian Electricity Act 2003 and Indian Electricity Rules 1956, amended to date.

3) Modular furniture should be fitted with adjustable screws, breathing space and cladding of 2

mm thick Polyethylene on shutters should be provided to have noise free movement.

4) Since laboratory furniture is required to established laboratory hence vendor should quote for all the indented items else quotation is liable to be rejected. All the furniture items should be from same manufacturer for better compatibility.

5) Quoted items should be modular GI steel furniture with polyester powder coating.

6) The supplier should give the details of all furniture diagrams, drawings, dimensions

specifications and technical details etc., failing which quotations may not be entertained.

7) Delivery of the all the items should be within 3 months after placing Purchase Order.

8) There is height constraint in laboratory hence before manufacturing of the fume hoods the

supplier may visit site if required, and adjust the height accordingly.

9) Connection of fume hood exhaust to the exiting duct at RAPP-7&8 is required to be done by

the supplier.

10) Slight modification in dimensions about ± 50 mm / design should be acceptable subjected to

the prior approval from Station Chemist.

11) The test certificate of all the tests as mentioned above has to be submitted with the

supply but to be agreed in quotation.
