‘Find Your Wings’ is the latest collection to be released under Annah Stretton’s re-labelled Pink range.

The collection, dedicated to Annah’s two sisters, is all about empowering women to find their wings, and live a life they truly love.

You can see this ethereal influence coming through strongly in the design and construction of each garment. The use of delicate colour palettes and fabrics that float in the air creates a beautiful layered effect that is both soft and feminine and very much in keeping with the Annah Stretton Pink label. Annah Stretton Pink is unashamedly a celebration of colour, drama and femininity that is so often missing from the New Zealand clothing landscape. It’s a touch of fairy tale, flippery and colour that translates into gorgeous feminine garments that work together in layers or on their own.

The Pink label is designed for the ‘young at heart’ woman that doesn’t covet the latest trends; she simply wants gorgeous garments that take her to all the wonderful moments in her life in style.

Find Your Wings will be available online and in store from 1 July.

Q&AWhere has the design inspiration come from?

Angels, fairies, wings, fantasy, pretty things and Carrie Bradshaw (Sex in the City) What was the significance behind the name of the collection?

Empowering all women to find their wings, and live a life they truly love. How would you describe the defining features of the collection?

It’s very floaty, pretty, layered, and soft and feminine. We have the prettiest pales playing together in the early evening to create gorgeous looks for the Cinderella in us all. What are you trying to achieve with this collection?

A clear distinction between my Pink and Black fashion labels. It’s the first opportunity to showcase that we now have two very distinct design directions, each targeting two very different kinds of women. Is there a signature piece or hero piece within the collection that really sums up what you were trying to achieve with this theme?

The gorgeous back pleated summer dresses. These are ethereal in the way they just float off your back. What sort of woman did you have in mind when you were designing the range?

Sisters … I want all women to think about the sisterhood that they surround themselves with that enables them to thrive.

Find Your Wings pays tribute to changes in my sisters’ lives,

the wonderful reconnection that I

have had with them, and the exciting

personal growth that lies head of them as they now realise they

can be absolutely anything they desire!

How would you describe the Pink label to a woman who wasn’t yet familiar with it?

The pink label is all about the colour and the drama that so many of our customers rely on us to deliver and love season after season. It’s a touch of magic fairy dust, frippery and flowers that translate into gorgeous feminine garments that work together in layers.

Who is the Pink label aimed at?

For the ‘young at heart’ 40 year old woman that doesn’t covet the latest trends; she simply wants gorgeous garments that take her to all the wonderful moments in her life in style. How much of the ‘essence’ of Pink is in New Zealand women?

A lot! While New Zealand women are numerous and varied, many simply want relief from the daily grind, and our colourful garments bring that. They love the new energy and confidence that comes from the many admiring glances and comments.

Why have you moved away from Annah S and Annah Stretton and gone with Pink and Black? Why do these colours define each range for you?

We have moved away from the Annah S and Annah Stretton labels in their purest sense because we never seemed to be able to achieve a real clarity as to the content of each of these labels and just who they were targeting.

Given we have two sides to the main label (the left and right brain) the colours simply became an incredibly logical way to get the clarity we sought

Black, has all the style sophistication and elegance that we have in fact been doing for many years as part of the collection but which has also been largely lost amongst the more dominant pink range particularly with our retail environments. The new colour division will enable a clear design and visual merchandising direction and also encourage a new demographic of women to perhaps take another look at a label whose pumping heart has been around for 24 years.

What do you think is missing from the NZ fashion scene that your Pink label is looking to address?

Pink is about being comfortable in your own skin; just loving being a woman and not giving a damn about what anyone thinks of your sense of style. We are far too focused around ‘the brand’, rather than what works, what looks good and what feels good on the body. That’s absolutely what Pink is about. As a designer, who or what inspires you?

People and environments. I am always aware of who and what surrounds me, always absorbing and thinking about what’s next and how this could translate into stunning new collections.
