In 2012, the program encourages readers of all ages to explore the theme, Language: How We Communicate. WORLD-RENOWNED EXPERT ON AUTISTIC SAVANT SYNDROME DR. DAROLD TREFFERT, MD (via Skype) discusses Extraordinary Savant Syndrome Psychiatrist Darold Treffert, MD, will discuss savant syndrome, highlighting recent re- search developments in this remarkable condition. He has appeared in many television and documentary programs, including 60 Minutes, Oprah, CNN, and e Discovery Channel, and was a consultant to the Oscar-winning film, Rain Man. Dr. Treffert wrote the Fore- word to the UK version of Daniel Tammet’s Born On A Blue Day, and Daniel wrote the Foreword to Dr. Treffert’s book, Islands of Genius. Director of the Missouri state autism agency for the Dept. of Education. Her son, Jean-Paul Bovee, was diagnosed as autistic at the age of three. Despite difficult school years, he graduated from high school, finished college, and earned two master’s degrees. Jean-Paul is a Librarian, Information Specialist and a Disability Rights activist. He is married and has a son. Dr. Donnelly is a consultant on autism.
