Greeting Brothers and Friends:

I must have been really having fun because my year is almost over. It sure has gone fast. We have some business to conduct in December so if you can find the time we would love to see you in Lodge. November 23rd is a MM practice with the degree work to follow December 5th. We will have a breakfast at 8 am with the degree work to follow at about 9 am. We will be raising 4 new Brothers to the sublime degree of Master Mason. It would be nice to show a large support group for these new Brothers.

We will have our Regular Communication on December the 7th. We will be voting for our new officers at that time. Come up and let your vote be heard. On December 14th we will have our installation for our new officers. There will be a dinner at 6 pm with the proceedings to follow. This is open to the public so bring some friends along. Contact Guy Cole at 734-845-2370 or Guy Gilbert at 734-255-3747 if you are going to bring guests. JD Jim Emery is chairing the bell ringing for the Salvation Army, this is scheduled for December 19th and he still has some open slots. Contact him at 734-355-0430 if you can help out that day. The dues notices for 2010 have been mailed out and several Brothers have already sent in their dues and there has been some welcome donations along with them, thank you Brothers. As explained in the mailing there has been an increase from Grand Lodge. We are doing everything we can to keep from having to raise our local Lodge dues. All ideas for projects to help with this are readily accepted. 2009 has been a fun year, we have raised several new Brothers and have had several transfers into Lodge. We have been visited by several Lodges and have had several Brothers visit other Lodges. So come on out and have fun with us. Fraternally Gil

more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply,' the volunteer said.

Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said.

Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend or we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration.

We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,' Mom added.

Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning . By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.

Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.

Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one. One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not the one.'

It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup. The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer.

1st THURSDAY OF THE MONTH, 7:00pm

Greetings, Brethren and Friends, We will have our Regular

Communication followed by a public Installation of Officers on Thursday, December 3 at the Grotto. After a brief lodge business meeting at 7 PM, the lodge will be opened to guests for the purpose of installing Golden Rule Lodge’s officers for 2010. Following the Installation, we will enjoy food and refreshment at the afterglow, also at the Grotto. All members, visitors, guests and interested persons are cordially invited to join us for the evening’s events.

Fraternal regards, Bill Krebaum, W.M. _______________________

Puppy Size ‘Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer.

'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked.

'Puppy size!' replied the mother 'Well, we have plenty of

puppies, if that's what she's looking for.'

'I know..... we have seen most of them, ' the mom said in frustration... Just then Danielle came walking into the office

'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom.

'No, not this time, 'Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the weekend?'

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed 'You never know when we will get ………..

'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!' She screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!'

'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the last few weeks,' Mom said.

'No not size... The sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said. 'Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!'

The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did a little of both.

'Mom , every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said. Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom , he loves me. I heard the sighs of his heart!'

Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day.

They are the sighs of God. Take the time to stop and listen; you will be surprised at what you hear. 'Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.'

I hope your life is filled with Sighs!!!

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends! Life is too short and friends are too few. Life is too short to wake up with regrets.

Love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't. God Bless each of you. One and all.

From the Sighs of my heart. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, or if it be your Muharram or Kwanzaa may it be filled with family, friends and joy!

MONDAY OF MONTH 7:30 PM 5752 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti 48197 __________________________________

Greetings from Ypsilanti OES East: Well, here we go again! Moral of

the story is never say “never”. We’re starting our year with a full

core of officers, minus one. Our organist Dilys Wisely is home,

after some pretty scary back surgery. Pearl Gale is very slowly getting over a pinched nerve in her back. Has trouble sitting or standing. Phyllis Meadows and Jim Miller are still having intestinal problems. The rest of us are washings our hands so darn often, they’re getting chapped. Maybe it’s not because of the fear of getting the flu but just a new way to sell soap and lotion. Just a thought.

We were pleasantly surprised with a full sidelines at our Installation. It makes it worthwhile if Sisters & Brothers are visiting, so get out there and travel!

Nov. 30th is our School of Instruction at 7:00 sharp. Officers in formals and dark suits for the men.

Dec. 14th will be a business meeting and initiation. Open at 5:00, potluck and initiation at 7:30. Hope you come join us and help welcome our new Brother.

Any suggestions for fun times and ways to encourage our members to come back would be appreciated.

Remember, it’s only ONE night a month and were dark in January and February.

Give someone a smile, a word of praise and a hug!

Let us know of any illness or woe. Jean and Carl Rufus WM & WP Remind me to let Carl breathe!

December finds area Lodges installing their new officers for the coming year. This is an excellent opportunity to show your brothers we, the York Rite, care. Lord Prop Us Up

Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old deacon who always prayed, 'Lord, prop us up on our leanin' side.' After hearing him pray that prayer many times, someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so fervently. He answered, 'Well, you see, it's like this ... I got an old barn out back. It's been there a long time; it's withstood a lot of weather; it's gone through a lot of storms, and it's stood for many years. It's still standing. But one day I noticed it was leaning to one side a bit. So I went and got some pine poles and propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall. Then I got to thinking about that and how much I was like that old barn. I've been around a long time. I've withstood a lot of life's storms. I’ve withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time, so I like to ask the Lord to

High Priest Address

Greetings Friends & Companions, I hope the spirit of the season is

filling your hearts. It is odd writing a letter, to be published in December, and it is not yet Thanksgiving!

We are NOT holding our Stated Convocation this month, due to interference with the Christmas holiday. We WILL begin our Masonic endeavors again in January on the 18th at 7:00 pm. We will have refreshments which will be served at 6:30. Please take this time to be with loved ones as much as you are able.

We are pleased to say we have seen many positive things take place this year. We have found a good medium term home for our Chapter, our records are safely stored, as are some of the larger props for our several degrees. We are enjoying continued and new interest in our Craft, and we are once again meeting in Ann Arbor. Thank you Tom Jameson for your help in finding us a place to stay.

Thanks are also in order for our friends and brothers in Ypsilanti for allowing us to meet in their chambers for the time. We have been blessed with many who have done their bit to see that we are held in loving hands.

We are sad to see the Temple on Liberty go away, but look forward to the day when we can all meet together in brotherhood in a NEW Ann Arbor Masonic Temple.

The New Year will see more changes come our way. We have some great men ready to serve the Craft and we look forward to helping them realize their goals. When good men gather and together strive towards a common goal, we see great things. The reins of leadership will pass to these brothers and companions, please give them the

Sometimes we get to leaning toward anger, leaning toward bitterness, leaning toward hatred, leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that we shouldn't.. So we need to pray, 'Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord.''

STATED CONCLAVE

3rd MONDAY of the Month 7:00 PM

Greetings Sir Knights and Ladies!

Commandery, Battalion, Christmas Observance. Sunday, December 20 at the United Methodist Church, 1415 Miller Ave., Ann Arbor. Assemble at 9:30 am and attend worship service beginning at 10 am.

All Christian Masons are encouraged to attend, with their families. Please let Art or I know, with how many, if you think you might be able to make it. That way we can give the Church an idea for setting up for refreshments afterwards.

Attire, for Sir Knights, is Templar Uniform, minus sword!

I’ve had the pleasure this year of traveling to several Commandery Inspections. What a pleasure it has been to seen so many young Christian Masons becoming involved in the Knights Templar. It has been a pleasure to talk to them afterwards and here the excitement in their voice and see the joy in their faces and eyes with the beautiful impressive Order of the Temple which they had just witnessed.

It is a great pleasure to observe the delight with which the Christian Religion is being carried forward. We all need to improve and strengthen ourselves in our individual religious beliefs and faiths.

Masonry is an excellent example of all Religions should be teaching. That of understanding and caring. That of working together for the betterment of ALL mankind.

Become a stronger stalwart supporter and worker for your faith and become more knowledgeable and understanding of each of the other faiths. We all believe in the same Supreme Being, by whatever name we give him.

We each have the same basic teachings and beliefs. Let us practice them for the betterment of all.

God Bless each of you. Do not take Christ out of Christmas.

Ever Christian Mason should be a

Knight Templar.

I BELIEVEI BELIEVEI BELIEVEI BELIEVE A Birth Certificate shows that we were

born A Death Certificate shows that we died

Pictures show that we lived! Have a seat…Relax…And read this

slowly I Believe…That just because two people argue, It doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. And just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t mean they do love each other. I Believe…That we don’t have to change friends if we understand that friends change. I Believe… That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them. I Believe…That you shouldn’t be so

eager to find out a secret. It could change you life Forever. I Believe…That your life can be

changed in a matter of hours by people who don’t even know you. I Believe…That credentials on the

wall do not make you a decent person. I Believe that when you think you

have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you- you will find the strength to help.

I Believe…That no matter how good a friend is, they’re going to hurt you every once in awhile and you must forgive them for that. I Believe…That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love. I Believe…That you can do something in an instant that will give your heartache for life. I Believe… That it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be. I Believe…That you can keep going long after you think you can’t. I Believe…That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel. I Believe…That either you control your attitude or it controls you. I Believe…That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences. I Believe…That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you’re down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe…That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe…That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I Believe…That sometimes when I’m angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe…That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.

I Believe…That it isn’t always enough, to be forgiven by others, sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe…That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn’t stop for your grief.

I Believe…That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but, we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe…Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I Believe…That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

I Believe…”The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything.
