Program Description: The aim of the program is to train students to develop expertise in

fundamental mathematical concepts, processes and teaching methods. The themes mainly

include mathematical thinking and reasoning, methodologies, paradigms and complexity of

learning mathematics. The Major Scientific Branches of the department are Algebra and

Numbers Theory, Theory of Real and Complex Functions, Geometry, Fundamentals of

Mathematics and Mathematical Logic, Applied Mathematics, Functional Analysis and

Topology. The Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics is granted to a candidate, who has

Program Description: The program includes studies all kinds of interaction, change and

transformation of energy and matter by using modern scientific methods. The students have

to participate in training programs for 45 working days at a public or private institution

operating in the field of chemistry. Thus, it is intended to bring the students to understand

and solve potential problems more accurately by giving them the opportunity to specialize in

different areas of chemistry. Department of Chemistry is acknowledged for seizing research

Program Description: The Department of Biology consists of General Biology, Zoology,

Botany, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Hydrobiology divisions. The aim of

the department is to understand living organisms and live systems by encouraging scientific

PROGRAM NAME: PHARMACY


Duration: 5 years

Language: English

Program Description: The Program offers to be specialized in medicinal treatment and

drugs, medicines and their development, use and effects from the point of view of natural

sciences, health sciences, as well as social sciences. Students are expected to prepare a thesis

in the final year. Scientific research is also a crucial activity at the Faculty, with numerous

research projects of either a basic or fully applied nature regularly being carried out in its

laboratories. In particular, students benefit from exchange programs such as Erasmus with

15 Pharmacy Faculties in Europe. The Faculty offers English MD programs in Analytical

PROGRAM NAME: COMPUTER ENGINEERING


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: The department focuses its graduate teaching and research programs

in the following areas: digital image and signal processing, fault-tolerant computing, software

engineering, distributed systems (software), simulation, theory and implementation of

(functional) languages, algorithm design and analysis. The program offers at both the

introductory and intermediate levels in the above areas. Graduate courses leading to research

topics are at the forefront of current knowledge and technology. Guided individual study

projects, available in graduate courses, provide opportunities for student participation

in research activities in the department and in the university. In the graduate program,

original research in close association with individual faculty members is always emphasized.

Computer engineers have a broad spectrum of job opportunities, ranging from software

development to computer hardware design; and from finance to telecommunication sectors.

PROGRAM NAME: BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

Program Description: Biomedical engineers combine their knowledge of engineering with

biology, anatomy, and physiology to create devices and systems for a variety of healthcare

issues. The program mainly consist of the development of medical imaging systems and

software, the development of devices for the measurement and analysis of biological signals,

improving the clinical diagnosis and treatment apparatus, biocompatible materials

production, regenerative tissue formation, development of personalized therapies,

production of pharmaceuticals and therapeutic biological compounds. We aim to trains

engineers who can produce strategies, devices and solutions aimed for diagnosis and therapy

for the health sector by applying engineering principles in life sciences; will develop new

products and can make designs in order to improve current products; have high professional

and ethical standards.

Program Description: The program provides professional training, and participation

actively in applied and theoretical research as well as knowledge of basic sciences, such as

mathematics, physics and chemistry together with an understanding of economics, social

sciences and humanities. The curriculum concentrates on fundamentals of the department

such as analog electronics, circuit theory, and digital circuits and systems. Selection of

advanced courses in the areas of communication systems, image and video processing,

speech processing, biomedical instruments, microwave theory and optical communication

are available. Young graduates are able to find jobs in the areas of academy, IT, defense

industries, communication companies, computer sciences and biomedical engineering related

PROGRAM NAME: ENERGY ENGINEERING


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: The program is suitable for academic developments since it is based

on interdisciplinary collaborations. We strongly believe that the establishment of the

department is important and beneficial since it is an integration of fundamental sciences

(physics, chemistry and maths) and engineering programs (Chemical Engineering, Electrical-

Electronical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering). The major fields of research include

renewable energy technologies, design of energy production systems/units and their

modications and improvements, energy storage and design of energy materials. Graduates

have sufficient theoretical and practical background for a successful profession and with

application skills of fundamental scientific knowledge in the engineering practice, have skills

and professional background in describing, formulating, modeling and analyzing the energy

engineering problem, with a consideration for appropriate analytical solutions in all

necessary situations. Graduates also have necessary technical, academic and practical

PROGRAM NAME: PHYSICS ENGINEERING


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: The department defines physical principles and applies these

principles to engineering practices, describes engineering problems of physics engineering,

examines physical events by using mathematics knowledge, find and apply proper theories

and approaches to the complicated problems on physics engineering. The Engineering

Physics students are required to take classes and lab courses in four years as well as

performing 45 days internship in a company in order to graduate and get a Bachelor of

(Science) Engineering Physics title. After completing their undergraduate education students

can continue their graduate studies by joining Master of Science program (MSc) and later

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program leading Master of Engineering Physics and PhD of

Engineering Physics degrees, respectively.

Engineering Physics is a wide discipline, which includes a variety of sub-disciplines, so the

expected career path of graduates holding a degree in this area depends only on the interests

of graduates and their specialization. The most common employers of Engineering Physics

graduates are research institutes, government, large and small industries, medical and

pharmacological enterprises, factories.

PROGRAM NAME: FOOD ENGINEERING


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: The curriculum starts with fundamental courses including

mathematics, physics, chemistry, and follows with basic engineering courses including

thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, energy and mass balance, reaction kinetics, unit

operations, and finally completed with food chemistry, food microbiology, food analysis, food

quality control in the food science field, and cereal technology, fruit and vegetable processing,

meat technology, fats and oil technology, and dairy technology in the food technology field.

Also, many elective courses in the field of social sciences are available. The projects focus on

chemical composition of food, food microbiology, food safety, shelf-life study of food, process

improvement, and product development. Graduates with a degree in Food Engineering work

for a variety of organizations including research laboratories, food production plants,

academic and governmental institutions, and auditing companies. Also, the graduates can

start own business such as on consulting, and project development.

PROGRAM NAME: CHEMICAL ENGINEERING


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: The program provides students with strong fundamental knowledge

on basic sciences as physics, chemistry and mathematics and then more advanced courses are

offered. Among these are conservation of mass and energy, separation processes, reaction

engineering, thermodynamics, transfer of heat, mass and fluent, process design and control,

all of which constitute the base of the education. Technical facilities, computers and

laboratories are widely used in teaching to promote the quality of education. The department

focuses to graduate students; with ability to apply their knowledge to the analysis, design,

operation and control of the systems, with skills to perform in public and private sector in

operation, management or research positions in the field of chemical engineering and related

areas such as food engineering, environmental engineering, biochemical engineering and

process system engineering. Also graduates will have the ability to fit in teams both as a

member and as a leader, teach and lead research work in other universities, life-long learning

intention, environmental and societal awareness. Graduates are able to make researches on

the production of the desired products and related production processes and then help to

PROGRAM NAME: GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING

Program Description: Major branches of the department are General Geology, Mineralogy

and Petrography, Geochemistry and Ore Deposits and Applied Geology. The program aims to

teach the material of the Earth, the fields of physics that act on the earth's crust, the history of

the place, the fossilized life forms, the chemistry of the material that makes up the earth,

explore the water, mineral resources and oil deposits in the Earth's crust. To be able to

foresee the earthquake of crust's dynasty, to be able to foresee the dangers that will affect

human life. To be able to determine infrastructural instabilities for engineering works and to

plan engineering designs for their measures. To produce geological maps showing various

features of crust. To train geological engineers who can use modern engineering tools and

methods for all these studies, who can observe human health, safety, and aim to learn life-

long. Geological Engineering use mathematical, scientific and engineering knowledge in

resolving Geological Engineering problems. Define processes of Geological Engineering and

apply them in the working field. Examine the contributions of engineering solutions to health,

Program Description: Medicine is a thriving and ambitious multidisciplinary faculty and one

PROGRAM NAME: PHILOSOPHY


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: Program aims to redound students questioning and creative thinking

habits and basic information about the philosophy. Especially following philosophical trends

and issues are at the forefront of program: Existentialism, Phenomenology and Contemporary

Philosophy Movement, Aesthetic Human Rights, State and Society Philosophy, Philosophy of

Education, History and Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Language, idealistic philosophy.

Program also focus to raise awareness concerning the need of philosophical knowledge in

various fields of knowledge and in leading personal and social life; and to grow graduates

who carry out notable researches, work in various academic institutions both in Turkey and

in abroad, and contribute to science and humanity. Graduates are able to identify major

philosophers and philosophical thoughts; define basic concepts in philosophy; list various

philosophical investigation procedures; define basic techniques, concepts used in formal and

informal logic and philosophical explanation of scientific and philosophical texts.

PROGRAM NAME: ARCHAEOLOGY


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: Prehistoric Archaeology, Proto-history and Near Eastern

Archaeology and Classical Archaeology are the three sub-disciplines of the department.

Prehistoric Archaeology studies and examines all facts about humans, their life styles and

behaviours during the related time span. It also studies the natural environment in

which humans live, and chronologically examines findings recovered through

excavations. The Department of Proto-history and Near Eastern Archaeology studies the

civilizations of the ancient Near East in a long time span starting from the Neolithic

Period (ca. 10,000 B.C.) which marks the beginning of the first agricultural activities and

the appearance of first settlements, followed by the Chalcolithic Period (5,000 B.C.)

and Bronze Ages (3,000 – 1,200 B.C.), until the end of the Iron Age (1,000 – 500 B.C.).

Department of Classical Archaeology covers the Greek and Roman civilizations and

offers courses on the Minoan culture in Crete, Mycenaean civilization in Mainland

Greece, Proto- Geometric and Geometric periods, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods

followed by the Roman Empire with a special emphasis on Western Anatolia. Graduates

are able to define and use the basic concepts and scientific methods of archaeology; date

and evaluate archaeological materials by stylistic analysis and other comparative

techniques; learn the basic principles of stratigraphy and evaluate individual structures

by defining their chronological sequences; learn the scientific methods used in dating of

archaeological materials. Theoretical courses on the cultural history of different

civilizations deal with various aspects in detail and are supported with rich visual

material.

PROGRAM NAME: ANTHROPOLOGY


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: Anthropology program examines past and present societies

comparatively from biological and cultural perspective and reveals the differences and

similarities emerged with evolution and change. In Anthropology program, while examining

the diversity of people within time and space, on the other hand, social and cultural relations

are described. The most important feature of the anthropology is that it has a universalist and

holistic perspective. From this point, in Anthropology program, on one hand, when discussing

all aspects of the biological and cultural differences, on the other hand, an equal distance to

all the differences and similarities are taught. No matter which sub-discipline of anthropology

programs, the students training in this program, are trying to gain a global perspective rather

than being self-centered.

The aim of program is to train researchers who evaluate human societies from biological and

cultural aspects by taking a holistic perspective. Describe the fundamental concepts and

terminology of anthropology discipline. İdentify the historical process through which humans

are evolved adopted a sedentary lifestyle and diversified various cultures. Analyse the

material cultural units of various cultures, the practices that they developed through the

ways, which they organize their environment and life worlds based on human-object/human-

nature/human-environment dichotomies.

PROGRAM NAME: FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE ENGINEERING


Duration: 4 years

Language: English

Program Description: Program is mainly understanding of system most obviously

aquaculture production systems, but increasingly wider aquatic resource system which is

manipulated for societal aims food production, financial gain, ecological quality, aesthetic

value and human livelihood. The Program offers both theoretical and practical study for

undergraduate students on fisheries and aquaculture. Graduates are capable of offering

consultancy services regarding fisheries management, hatchery, and nursery and on growing

techniques of cold and warm water fish as well as fish processing. Graduates can be employed

Program Description: The Stem Cell Institute is the first institute established with the

mission to serve Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine in Turkey. The vision of the Institute

is to develop more economic and rapidly evolving novel therapies to treat diseases in the field

of stem cells and regenerative medicine and to achieve the National and International Center

of Excellence within the body of our University. Under the scope of studies to be done at the

Center of Excellence, there shall be necessity for personnel with at least a PhD degree specific

PhD graduates may occupate positions for duties such as researcher and/or lecturer at our

University's Center of Excellence, researcher/lecturer at other universities in our country, or

manufacturing personnel at public or private cell and tissue establishments.

Such as the case worldwide, implementation and legislative studies related to stem cells and

regenerative medicine are rapidly evolving in our country. However, even if national

legislation stipulates so, expertise programs specifically designed for training in cell and

tissue banking, cell-based product manufacturing procedures, and donation and

transplantation ethics do not exist yet in Turkey. The proposed PhD program promises

researchers who shall be raised for the potential contribution to the clinical and industrial

Language: Turkish and Armenian *

Program Description: The first aim of the program is to educate academicians and

researchers who specialized on Armenian Language and Literature. It is the first program in

Turkey specialized on the field. Considering the important historic relations with Armenia

and Turkey, training Armenian Language Philologists in Turkey is expected to contribute

mutual understanding. In addition, this new field of study could contribute to other language

studies and sister fields such as archeology and history. On that, purpose department offers

both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. At these programs students gains the ability to interpretation,

literary analysis along with create a scientific research project and make an original

contribution to the field. The main areas of employment of the graduates are commerce

PROGRAM NAME: KOREAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE



Language: Turkish and Korean *

Program Description: The program provides knowledge of Korean language, culture, literature, and philosophy by focusing on culture, history and literature. It is aimed to not only teach on language but also provide a basis for who pursue their career in the academic field and research. That is the reason; the department offers both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. Department also aims to contribute to relations between Turkey and Korea by promoting Korea in Turkey. That is why department’s both students and academics have great relations with Korean Embassy and Korea Culture Foundation. Many activities such as concerts, cinema days, conferences, culture days of Embassy and Foundation organized at the Faculty.

Department also provides the opportunity %80 of the students to study at Korea as exchange student up to 3 semesters. The program aims at to equip students with the ability to work in Korea as well as in Turkey.

PROGRAM NAME: POLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE



Language: Turkish and Polish *

Program Description: The program founded on the deep relations between Turkey and

Poland and aims to contribute these relations by providing a cultural basis well educated

individuals. On this purpose, program contains language, literature courses and history,

policy courses. Bachelor degree students can benefit from one-month summer exchange.

Graduates can benefit from Polish Government grant programs for researchers.

The department offers both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees who wants to pursue their career in

academic research field. Postgraduate degree programs offer courses on interpretation,

translation, literature and history.

Program Description: Program designed for to teach Bulgarian Language grammar, syntax and to equip students with the ability to translate between Bulgarian and Turkish. In addition the program contains literature, theory of literature, Bulgarian history courses and Bosnian Language courses.

The department offers both M.A. and Ph.D. degree programs. Concerning 600 years history between Turkey and Bulgaria, these programs designed to educate researches on field of comparative literature. The students will have the chance to study Turkish heritage at the Balkans.

Program Description: Bachelor’s degree program of Arabic Language and Literature

Department equip its graduates with deep knowledge of Arabic language, culture, literature, and

philosophy. Program contains both contemporary and classical literature aspects of the Arabic

literature. In addition, it is designed to equip students with both oral and written abilities in Arabic.

They are expected to be able to follow Arabic world with all literately, culturally, politically and

evaluate all these aspects in historical context. For this purpose program contain Hebrew, Political

History and Literature Critic courses. It is aimed also provide a basis for who pursue their career in

Program Description: The program offers knowledge of not just Sanskrit but also great and

ancient Indian culture. Contemporary Hindu language is also taught in the program. Indology

program contain courses of philosophy, mythology, political history, theater history, science

history.

The department offers both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees which contain courses of Sanskrit

grammar, examination of important literature pieces and their translation into Turkish,

cultural history, comparative literature and literature history. Graduate programs main aim is

Program Description: The program designated for to give detailed knowledge of Hungarian language, culture and literature. The department founded by the founder of the Republic in order to create an academic base to research Turkish-Hungarian joint history. That is why the department provides support to researches done in Hungary or field studies in Turkey.

The department offers both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees, which contain courses of translation, comparative literature and literature history along with the Hungarian culture and Turkish Hungarian Relations. Graduate programs targets to educate qualified philologists and scientific researchers who could make original contributions to the field. Program Description: The program designed for providing both language skills and

comprehensive cultural knowledge about Pakistan. That is why courses focuses on not only

to read in these languages as well.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMS

Application Process for Turkish Citizen Students:

Application Process for International Students:

Exams / Diplomas that are accepted for application and minimum scores (You can apply to

Ankara University one of these documents):

a) Minimum 50 standard points in AYÖS 2018 or AYÖS 2019 (Ankara University Examination

for Foreign Students),

b) Scores between 1-4 in ABITUR,

c) An international baccalaureate diploma degree and minimum 30 points,

d) Minimum 1100 points in total and minimum 650 points in the math section of SAT I,

e) A score of minimum 24 in ACT,

f) GCE and Cambridge International AL and AS Levels Qualifications A minimum of two A

levels relevant to the program the candidate is applying for, with a minimum grade of A in

one of them; in addition, a minimum of 320 points from all A or AS levels taken (with A- level

tariff rates: A*=140, A=120, B=100, C=80) should be secured. AS-level (Advanced Subsidiary

Level) may be considered in lieu of a nonessential A-level with half tariff rates.(Those who

have not had a score of any kinds of exams on the list yet should not apply to study at any

programs.)

g) French Baccalaureate with a minimum score of 15 out of 20 in the stream related to the

program the candidate is applying for,

h) Jordan and Palestine Tawjihi Certificate with a minimum exam score of 80 in all programs,

i) West African Examination Council West African Senior School Certificate Examination

(WASSCE) (WAEC) a minimum of 6 B2 Levels, one of which is relevant to the program the

candidate is applying for,

j) A minimum average of 75% in College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) in CSAT (College

Scholastic Aptitude Test) exam prepared by “Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation

(KICE)” in South Korea [Suneung] including at least one relevant subject in type B.

k) Japan Daigaku Nyûski Sentâ Shiken Entrance Exam Parts of Exam, Maximum Points and

Duration of Exams: Japanese Language 80 minutes (200 points) Social Sciences (History-

the above mentioned list in paragraphs (j), (k) are going to gain an acceptance depending on

the decision of the related faculty members.

l) Aptitude test: Applicants who will apply to departments that require aptitude tests should

not only provide the necessary requirements, but also required to take an aptitude test

conducted by the related faculty or department.

m) High School GPA: After placement of the types of examinations above, applications made

according to national high school final examinations will be assessed if vacant quotas remain.

The results of exams, which are specified as the University Entrance Exam, are valid for only

two years. There is no time expiry for the exams, which are specified as High School

Graduation Exam.
