President of Sierra Leone and Prime Minister of Democratic Republic of the Congo chose Mining Indaba to address the industry Both H.E. Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone and H.E. Sylvestre Ilunga, Prime Minister of Democratic Republic of the Congo were amongst first headliners to open the show. H.E. Julius Maada Bio took the opportunity to outline fiscal and legislative changes in a bid to attract more investment to the country whilst H.E. Sylvestre Ilunga stressed the importance of respecting 2018 mining code changes.

Investment Battlefield final broadcast live on CNBC Africa to 48 countriesTietto Minerals took home the 2020 Investment Battlefield trophy with their Côte d’Ivoire gold project and all finalist instantly gained international media coverage when the final was broadcast live on CNBC Africa.

A new record was set - 30% female speaker line-up and an all-female Main Stage panel WiM’s Elizabeth Johnson likened the momentous occasion as walking on the moon for the first time. Our leading females who represented all four corners of the industry weren’t there to just talk “diversity” but discussed all critical matters from climate change and ESG investing to digital innovation.
