*Game: I’m thinking of… Parent says, “Listen carefully to the clues that I’m going to give you & try to figure out what I’m thinking.” Describe a familiar object & have the child guess after each clue. Ex:” I’m thinking of something that starts with the /t/ sound. It grows in the yard; it is brown and green, it stands up, it sways in the wind.” Repeat the game with other letter sounds & familiar objects. *Letter Focus- Ff Practice writing the letter. Remember to pinch your pencil. *Explore Letter Ff: Take a walk around your neighborhood. Look for the uppercase F & lowercase f on cars and street signs you pass.

*Invite your child to sit at a table with paper and crayons and to draw or write about what he ate for breakfast. Ask your child to explain what he drew. *Letter Focus- Hh Practice writing the letter. Remember to pinch your pencil. *Explore Letter Hh: Form a letter H on the floor using items you find in your house. Ex. Use ‘HANDS’ to form the uppercase H and lowercase h.

*Chant the following rhyme: Riddle dee dee, riddle dee dee. Can you make a rhyme with me? I say [ball], you say [fall]. [Ball], [fall], [mall], [gall].

Provide the first two rhyming words & invite your child to continue making rhymes with that word. Try it again with another word & take turns choosing the rhyming words. Have fun with nonsensical words as you rhyme!

*Explore Letter Ii: Can you make an uppercase I and

lowercase i using goldfish crackers, pieces of dry cereal, dry beans/rice etc.

*Cut letters out from empty food boxes, junk mail, magazines and newspapers. Can you name each letter and its sound? Can you use them to spell your name? Last name? *Letter Focus- Jj Practice writing the letter. Remember to pinch your pencil. *Explore Letter Jj: Sort some letters you cut out earlier. Make two piles: Jj’s in one pile, all other letters together in another pile (the “Not Jj pile”)

Math

Make a pattern with your lunch? Are you snacking on any plants? Did you find any seeds in your snack?

Draw a picture or make a list of plants you like to eat. How many did you name?

Is there a tree in your yard or near your house? How tall do you think the tree is? Can you build a tall tree with blocks? How many blocks tall was your tallest tree?

Put a collection of pieces of ribbon, yarn, or strips of paper of the same width, cut to different lengths in a jar or container. Ask each person to take one ribbon & put it on the floor in front of them. Talk about which piece is longer/ shorter. Show how to line up the ribbons to compare the lengths. Invite your child to find ribbons that are equal or the same length as theirs, shorter than theirs, & longer than theirs.

*Learn an important phone number today. Practice calling that number.

Science

Continue your weather chart this week. Keep drawing a picture of the weather each day. Do you think it will rain this week? What is your prediction?

Make a small flowerpot using a cup or can. Plant a seed or bean. Check each day and watch for changes.

Create playdoh flowers. Remember to make the roots, stem, leaves, and petals.

Explore Dirt: Does adding water to dirt, make it heavier or lighter?

*Mud Pies: various items to use: spoon, bowl, bucket, ladle, strainer, cup, water

Sensory scavenger hunts: Find 6 objects that have a similar property: are X color, that are X shape, that have a smell, that are hard, soft, etc.

Social Studies

Draw a picture of your family. Label family members with their initials.

A rain forest is a warm, wet place. Many animals live in a rain forest, like monkeys, jaguars, snakes and toads. A chameleon lives in the rain forest, too. A chameleon is a lizard that can change its color to match its surroundings. *Write one sentence telling about a rain forest. Write another sentence about your favorite rain forest animal.

1. Have your child sit or sit with your child in a quiet space, place your hands on

your stomach, and practice slowly breathing in through your nose and out through

your mouth noticing your breath. Repeat 3 to 5 times slowly.

2. Rainbow Breathing: Have your child choose 5 to 7 colors (markers, chalk, etc.)

and create a rainbow. Have your child start at the inner bow from the bottom up.

Your child will trace each color with their finger breathing in through their nose

as they trace up and breathing out through their mouth as they trace down.

Repeat for each color extending breaths as the bow get bigger. Click to see

3. Figure 8 Breathing: Have your child draw a large sideways 8. The child will place

their finger in the middle and slowly trace around the first loop breathing in

through their nose, hold, trace the second loop breathing out through their
