Project Day 4
Supplies:
-Blank white paper
-scissors
Steps:
1) Cut out a rectangle that is 15cm wide by 6cm tall (this is your chart)
2) this chart will need 7 rows and 3 columns (as seen below)

Project Day 5
Supplies
- Chart (unfinished)
-Glue
Steps:
1) Animals: list all 6 animals in the chart
2) Perimeter: find the perimeter of the animal’s exhibit in centimeters. (for example: if the Tiger Exhibit is a rectangle that is 3cm wide and 4cm tall, I will add all four sides together. 3cm + 4cm+ 3cm+ 4cm= 14cm)
Feel free to send a picture of your
finished Zoo to me via email:

4) Decide what color you want your background paper to be (if you do not have colored paper at home, you may want to color a white paper with colored pencil).
cut a large rectangle that is 18cm wide and 15cm tall. This is your zoo map. Glue it onto your colored paper, just below your Zoo Name.
3)With a different white paper: Using a ruler, draw smaller rectangles or squares for exhibits. Use centimeters. No exhibit should be larger than 6cm in length or width.

3) Glue exhibits on to the white zoo map that is 18cm wide by 15cm tall (you may need to cut exhibits smaller if they do not all fit on map)
Use either formula:
Perimeter= side + side + side + side
Perimeter= (2 x w) + (2 x l)
3) Area: find the area of the animal’s exhibit in centimeters. (for example: : if the Tiger Exhibit is a rectangle that is 3cm wide and 4cm tall, I will multiply my width and height. 3cm x 4cm= 12cm2
Use this formula:
Area= length x width

https://wonderopolis.org/wonder/Can-You-Bump,-Set,-and-Spike Click on the link to read about volleyball. About halfway down on your right is a green box “Did you get it?” Take the challenge to see how you do.
https://wonderopolis.org/ Go to the site above. Click on the “Explore Wonders” tab. Find at least one thing you want to find out more about and read the article there.
Go to Classkick, link: H8C Z23 to complete today’s work.
Go to https://wonderopolis.org/what-are-you-wondering Add 2-3 things that you are wondering about to the list.
Read for 20 minutes.
Use millimeters, centimeters & decimeters to complete a drawing. 1dm= 10 cm= 100mm 1cm= 10 mm Draw a house that is 1 dm tall. Add a roof that is 6cm tall, a door that is 32 mm tall, two square windows with sides 3 cm long. Draw a tree outside of the house that is 2 dm tall.
Go back to yesterday’s lesson and label the length of each item you measured out.
Measure or estimate things in your house. Find things in each category: Ten things 1 meter long. Five things 2 Decimeters long. Ten things that are 10 cm long. Five things that are 50 mm long.
Remember: A Meter is about the distance from the floor to a doorknob. A cm is about the width of your pinky across your nailbed. 10 centimeters = 1 decimeter.
Use Yards/ feet/inches to draw another house. 10 inches high & 8 inches wide without the roof. Add a roof of your choice. Two windows on your first floor that are 2 inches high & 2 inches wide. Three windows on your second floor that are 1 ½ inches high and 2 inches wide. Add a chimney 1 inch wide/ as tall as you want. Add a door, curtains, trees, bushes, fence and any other details you’d like.
Save your picture. You will need it next week.

Wow, can you believe it is already the end of April! I hope you are getting to get outside and enjoy the spring weather. This is my favorite time of year! Seeing all the flowers bloom and all the brown turning green again. I also enjoy listening to the birds singing in the mornings. I hope you are taking this opportunity to talk with your child about all the sights and sounds going on around us. When we are in school, we go on nature walks and experience the wonders of spring.
As always, I am just a call, text or email away.
Miss you all so much!
