Brief Project Description:Facility will enhance park usage in an area that has seen extensive residential growth and isunderserved with public recreational opportunities. Funding will provide for design, site preparation, andutility extension at the South Anchorage Sports Park. Improvements will include developemnt ofmulti-use areas including BMX track, dog park, paintball course, and baseball fields.

Detailed Project Description and Justification:Funding will provide for design, site preparation, and utility extension at the SouthAnchorage Sports Park. Phase II will include the construction of a public recreational facility withcovered, multi-use athletic courts, restrooms and concession area. Facility will enable year-roundpark usage in an area that has seen extensive residential growth and is underserved with publicrecreational opportunities.
Project Timeline:Improvements to be funded with the 2012 grant are expected to occur primarily in 2012 and 2013.

Anchorage has 10,946 acres of municipal parkland, 223 parks, and over 250
miles of trails and greenbelts that link neighborhoods with
surrounding natural open space and wildlife habitat.
These are considerable assets for the citizens of Anchorage
to enjoy and maintain.
Parks & Recreation launched the Clean & Green, Safe & Secure Campaign with the
Anchorage Park Foundation to upgrade the safety,
function, and appearance of Anchorage parks. To get
