Transcript of Analysis of mastheads and conventions
This magazine title is simply just ‘music’. It doesn’t give away what the genre is but does show it is a music magazine.
This title is just ‘symphony’. It is a musical term and shows from the beginning that it is from the classical genre as this is where the term is used. It is white and gives off the feeling of being clean.
The colour is white which makes it seem clean. There is no caps in this title which doesn’t make it seem large so the actual size of the masthead is larger to compensate. The font is simple and doesn’t associate the title with any other genre.
There are no capitalised letters like the other title and is in a simple font that doesn’t associate the title with any other genre. It also has text underneath to make the title sound more important.
One of the conventions used here is cover-lines. On this issue the main cover lines are large and eye-catching. They are also in different colours to stand out more
This magazine also has a skyline which is in a colour that stands out from the rest of the magazine. It includes a competition as well to help draw more attention to the magazine
Another convention used is an image. On this magazine is takes up more of the right side of the magazine and is used to draw more attention through the popularity of the person on the cover as well as draw more attention as they always stand out on a cover
