The clothing does not have any colour which is synonymous with the indie rock genre is as well as how some of the band members are wearing long coats. Also, the haircuts of 2 of the members are strange and have the ‘indie rock look’ as it is a common convention of this genre. There is a mixture of direct and indirect mode of address as 3 out of 4 members are giving direct address, however they all have a careless and informal attitude in the image which is common for the indie rock genre. The artist’s makeup is well done and bright and there is a theme of pink throughout the image which shows that she is a pop artist and the target audience may be teenage girls.

The artist is wearing black with a white background which is represented in the rock genre as it is dark and the artist’s body language seems careless and informal, similar to the rock genre, as he has his hand behind his head and has indirect mode of address. However, the use of colour portrays the image as a pop-rock artist as his tattoos, which are purposely shown, are bright and colourful which is a common code for the pop genre. Also, the artist’s hair is an orange colour. These colours are shown as bright colours in comparison to the black and white colours. The image also shows an informal balance, however does have a rule of thirds.

This image of my chemical romance shows that the band is part of the rock genre. This is because the clothing is dark colours along with the dark background which connotes the rock genre, along with the rock style haircuts which the members have. The band members mainly have dark hair and the lead single is clearly identified as he is in the middle of the image with white coloured hair. The clothing of the rock band is all the same and their proxemics are close together, which is a common representation of this genre. Some members also look like they have dark make up on which is common for the rock genre as it would not be seen in genres such as pop and hip hop. The band members are all showing direct mode of address and there is a formal balance within the image as it uses symmetry with 2 band members on each side of the main singer. They all also have aggressive facial expressions which represents the rock genre as the music tends to be more aggressive than other genres.
