Analysis of audience research: To gain knowledge on the views on genres of music and music magazines I set up a small 8-question survey. This was to be able to find out more information on peoples views of music magazines today and the cost that they would expect to pay to get a monthly or weekly publication. To make my survey I used Google forms. I only posted my Survey on my blog and got so it wasn’t open to public viewing. This may have se me back as I didn’t get a lot of responses.

Analysis of audience research:

To gain knowledge on the views on genres of music and music magazines I set up a small 8-question survey.

Question 1: What age range are you a part of?

Page 2: Analysis of audience research

The responses I got for the first question were mostly in the same age range. This being the 14-17 age rage with two exceptions, one being in the 18-21 age range and another being in the other category being at the age of 27.

Question 2: What music genre do you prefer?

This question was a varying answer with not one specific genre standing out. I got two responses for rock, 4 for Indie music and finally 4 for pop music. This shows me that the rock genre isn’t as popular as the other choices but more popular than my other choices.

Question 3: Would you buy a new music magazine of your chosen genre?

The answers I got to this question were near half and half with 6 of the answers being a yes and the other 4 being a no. This shows that people would be open to buying a new magazine that comes on the market that is aimed at their specific music genre.

Question 4: Do you buy music magazines that are available today?

The return for this question was unanimous with all of the responses being a no. This shows me either the music magazines available today are not very good or the publication market is no longer as influential as it used to be.

Question 5: If yes what magazine is it?

This question was then rendered pointless due to none of the people who responded buying magazine available today. Although it was worth asking due to the information I could gather from knowing which magazine they would prefer if they bought one.

Question 6: Would you prefer to buy a monthly magazine or weekly?

The responses I got to this were 8 in the favour of a monthly publication with only two preferring a weekly publication. This shows audiences would like a more detailed publication being larger and only released once a month.

Question 7: How much would you expect a weekly magazine to cost?

This questions response all landed around the £2.00 mark this could be due to the price of magazines that are published weekly already influencing the audiences response.

Question 8: How much would you expect a monthly publication to cost?

The response for this question mostly sat around the £4.00 mark with two exceptions. One being £7.00 and another being £3.00 this could be due to the monthly magazines already on the market.
