This Tab totals the information from all the other pages. Use the information below to determine the power supply(s) you will need for all selected devices.

While our power supplies will provide at least the noted current, variations in equipment, wiring and other factors can make the actual power requirements exceed the capability of a power supply. For this reason, it is advisable to design in some spare capacity when specifying power supplies. The general practice of allowing at least 20% overhead, or spare capacity, is a recommendation that we support.

One of the primary purposes of this power calculator is to help designers and installers understand the impact of long wiring runs on the amount of voltage delivered to a device. Wire has resistance and that consumes power. As more wire is added, more power is needed. For this reason, it is always better to locate the power supply as close to the powered device as possible. This is especially true of those devices that consume the highest power, like touch panels.

Check the "HELP" tab for instructions on each area of this file.

See 'Wireless' tab for MVP wireless Touch panels.

G4 panels (either ICSNet or Ethernet) require local power or separate power cable from the power supply. The CAT5 cable is not capable of carrying the power for these panels. All power figures listed are the 'Startup Power'. Actual operating power is less, but power supplies must be able to provide the startup draw in order for the panel to work. See the manual for operating power and other installation considerations.

This section calculates the maximum length of a specific size of cable for a device or devices. (Choose between Foot

and Meter measurements.) You can also get the total current draw for this group of devices.

Check the "HELP" tab for instructions on each area of this file.

If using a local power supply to charge the wireless panel or remote, it may not necessary to add the quantity for purposes of obtaining the total system current draw. If running the power from a central equipment rack, be sure you double check the wire length. Voltage drop can cause an MVP to be unable to charge properly if the wire run is too long. Placing the supply close to the panel is recommended.
