• Objectives:– To be able to communicate a knowledge of modern American

History.– To be able to draw a correlation between past events and the

effect they have on America today.

• Course Setup:

• Theme #1: Geography & Government (Elections, Assassinations, Amendments)

• Theme #2: War (Cold War, Korean War, Vietnam, Gulf War, Terrorism, and today)

• Theme #3: Culture (Civil Rights Movement)

• Tests and Quizzes

• Essays

• Thesis Paper

• Class assignments

• Homework– Very little homework, we utilize class time for

many assignments

Classroom Policies

• Come to class on time and prepared (notebook, pen/pencil)

• Respect– Disrespect for fellow classmates or the

teacher will not be tolerated

• Lav– Use the Signout sheet at the front of the room,

if you abuse the lav I will restrict it

Grading

• Grading is based on points, I add up the number of points you earned and divide it by the total amount of points possible.

• Quiz 40/50• Presentation 80/100• Test 80/100• Homework 40/50

• Total 240/300 = B 80%
