American Bass/Ranger Boats North Team Classic Pre-Tournament Issue

Due to these events being Team Tournaments, there are sometimes concerns about rules being followed. To insure the integrity of Showcase Team events, American Bass has Truth Verification exams which are administered by professional examiners dur-ing or at the conclusion of the events. Any contestant competing in this event may be asked, and must submit to a Voice Stress, Polygraph or other truth verification examina-tion upon request by tournament officials. Successful completion of an exam is required for any team to be declared as the winner when the examination services are provided. Successful completion is at the discretion of the tournament officials and the examiners. Their decision is final. American Bass has used these services since 1990. We have never had a team fail the exam. However, we have had teams decline to take an exam-ine. None of these teams have been the leader at any of our events at the time of the exam. The weights for teams refusing to take take the exam were zeroed at that event and they are banned from future American Bass events.

If any angler will not agree to submission to a truth verification exam, that angler/team needs to withdraw prior to the start of competition. Any angler who refuses prior to com-petition will be refunded their entry for that event and will be ineligible for that event and future events. Any angler who refuses after the event has started, or at the conclusion of an event, will forfeit any winnings that they would have been earned if they had suc-cessfully completed the exam and will be ineligible for future events.

In our 35+ year history we have had very few problems. We are committed to stay vigi-lant in maintaining the integrity of our events. We are not trying to sound punitive, we just want to make it clear to everyone that this is a very important tool in our effort to make big-money team tournament meet the highest standards.

– LAKE PICACHOS – Mexico’s Newest and Hottest

Bass LakeLake Picachos near Mexico coast city of Mazatlan

Lake Picachos is Mexico’s newest and hottest bass lake! A real bass factory!!!

Lake Picachos is located approximately 30 miles northeast of the famous beach resort city of Mazatlán. The drive from the Mazatlán Airport to lake is just under 1 hour and the drive from the lake to 5-star El Cid Resorts, the first class hotel our an-glers stay their last night, is only a short 45 minutes drive. This lake is by far the easiest and most accessible than all other lakes we’ve promoted and operated on…ever! The Picachos Dam construction started in 2006 on the Presidio River, which is the main river that feeds into Lake Picachos. Construction of the dam was completed in 2009. The lake is simply filthy with bass from 2 – 5 pounds! There are also MUCH larger bass in the lake with the lake record already being 12 pounds! Picachos is on the same level of oth-er famous bass lakes when they first opened. Lakes such as Guerrero, Comedero and El Salto…all lakes that were famous for producing 100 – 200 bass per day in the 2 – 5 pound class. What makes Picachos rank slightly ahead of those lakes is that it already has some Florida strain bass that weigh in excess of 10 pounds…and of course it’s much easier to access. Picachos is very brushy and heavy with cover! This lake is a spinnerbait fisherman’s paradise! While most lures in the tackle bag will work at any given time, the lake will produce more and possibly bigger bass on spinnerbaits, lizards, Sen-kos, Flukes and shallow running crankbaits. Also, the topwa-ter action in the morning and afternoons can be phenomenal. Pop-R’s and Super Spooks have been the big producers!

– EL SALTO – The Most Famous Bass

Fishing Lake in the World Mexico’s Lake El Salto is the most famous bass fishing lake in the world. This reputation has been due to the thou-sands of huge bass that have been caught and released back in to the lake by Americans. We built the very first lodge on the water at El Salto about 15 years ago and the fishing just keeps getting better!

Be Clean & Dry1. Remove your bilge plug upon exiting the lake.2. Drain your lower unit.3. Clean and dry your livewells. Ensure there are no

scales, crawdad parts or dirt in your livewells.4. Clean and dry your boat and trailer. Ensure there is no

debris or plant life on your trailer before you leave the parking lot.

Stop the mussel, Be Clean & DryMany have heard about the spread of the quagga mussel throughout Southern California. It has be-come very prevalent throughout lakes and reservoirs along the Colorado River chain. The good news is it hasn’t been found in any lake other than on the Colorado River and it needs to stay that way!Water Districts all over the State are reviewing and defining their policies on external boats being launched. Some are requiring inspections, while others have some restrictions based on city/county of origin and a few have already prevented all launching.Bass anglers need to step up and do their share to prevent the spread of the mussel. As a group, we can do a few things to help minimize the chances of spreading the mussel and they include:

Most importantly, spread the word and place a Clean & Dry sticker on your tow vehicle and boat trailer!
