DAIWA REEL TECHNOLOGY

MAG SEALThe MAG SEAL principle is based on a special magnetic oil, which has been developed by the NASA to transport fuel to the starships based on the magnetic principle. Such an oil for reel production is not available in the super market. It has to be manufactured under most difficult circumstances. The embedded ferric oxide, which is necessary for the magnetic field has a diameter of 1/100.000mm and is that small, that the surface of a single particle has the tenth of the size of an influenza virus. The molecules in this new „metal oil“ are capable of changing. If they are exposed to a magnetic field, they change their shape and the oil forms a fluid seal. This magnetic oil is that strong, that it would stick to a magnetic bucket, even if the bottom was cut out. Such a seal, based on the principle of liquid magnetic oil produces nearly no friction, isolates perfectly and prevents even penetrating of little dust particles.

The big challenge for the DAIWA engineers was the development of a reel, which is designed for the principle of the magnetic oil to generate a kind of liquid membrane, that prevents water penetration. The MAG SEAL design is based on the purpose to keep water away from a spinning reel. First of all for sea anglers this is an amazing idea - since it promises a longer life span. No corrosion, better function. If salt water penetrates the reel and dries, it crystallizes, corrodes the gearing and affects the ball bearings.

The simplest solution for implementing a sealed mechanism, would have been the usage of a rubber seal. But this would cause such a strong friction, that an isolation of the rotor and axis would have been impossible. Only the use of a metallic oil in combination with a magnet provides the desired isolation effect without heavy friction. Years of research and development were required to develop such a reel isolation.

We call this liquid isolation MAG SEAL.

The smoother a line roller is rotating, the lesser friction emerges between line and roller. If salt or dirt particles get below the line roller it is slowed down more and more and thus the friction is increasing dramatically. The EXIST is the first reel with a MAG SEALED line roller. The magnetic MAG SEAL oil forms a barrier which prevents the penetration of water and thus salt and dirt particles into the line roller which could restrain the free rotation.The MAG SEALED line roller is another milestone within the historical development of premium High-tech reels made by DAIWA.

ZAIONZaion is an excellent material developed by DAIWA to built reel bodies and rotors. The big advantage of this material is its lightness and solidity. Zaion is a kind of „High Density“ carbon strain material, which is made for highest performance and to resist maximum impact. Due to Zaion, it is possible to construct a lightweight reel body that durably supports the gearing. The strength of Zaion corresponds to magnesium and is 20% stronger than Nylon/ABS material, usually used for reel bodies. Zaion is about 50% lighter than aluminium.

HARDBODY-Z CONCEPTWe have the perfect metal alloy, we have a more precise processing and we have the knowledge for building precise, durable and very lightweight metal reels.We call this technology the HardBody-Z concept. These reels have a technological advantage and they are not – compared to other synthetic reels – more expensive and in comparison to our traditional reels they have an economic price.


AIR ROTORThe magnetic oil barrier does not only prevent the intrusion of water, it also increases the ease of motion and the delicacy of feeling of the reel. You feel better connected to the lure, detect softer bites and experience more sensitivity during the fight with the fish. We call the effect REEL SENSITIVITY. Especially for this new feeling we have developed a complete new Air rotor. First, the enormous strains, which affect the rotor via the line and the line roller are better distributed. This causes less pressure on the single parts of the rotor. The new rotor is 15% more light weighted than usual rotors of the same material - this reduces vibrations and enhances the rotational balance thanks to a very low centre of gravity.

WASHABLE CONSTRUCTIONOur reels with the construction concept „washable“ can be cleaned under running water without damaging the function of the reel. Neither afterwards nor later.


CRBB BALL BEARINGSCRBB is short for Corrosion Resistant Ball Bearings and means salt-water-proof ball bearings. CRBB ball bearings feature an 12 times higher corrosion resistance than usual ball bearings.

DIGIGEARMachined, digitally developed gearing for maximum performance and endurance. Embeded in our HardBody Z aluminium body, it transmits smoothly and efficiently the power of the handle directly to the rotor.


SILENT OSCILLATIONBy the special position and guidance of the oscillation-gear wheels, we improved the smoothness of the gear in comparison to usual systems of similar construction.

AIRBAIL REEL HANDLEThe AirBail reel handle is hollow. Therefore it is very light, extremely strong and resilient. The special, strengthening construction prevents the twisting of the line around the handle, which was a problem for spin anglers in the past.

This picture shows the line directly after closing the handle. You can clearly see the line.

When you start winding the line, the point of contact between line and handle moves to the line roller.

The line is directly lead to the line roller with the help of the AirBail handle.

INFINITE ANTI REVERSEA weak part of many reels – the most reliable part of a DAIWA reel. Only high-quality parts made of steel with smallest tolerances are used.

TB - TWIST BUSTER &TWIST BUSTER 2 DAIWA´s original advanced technology designed to reduce line twist. An essential reason for line twist has been eliminated with this smart idea. the Twist Buster 2 line roller not only minimises line twist, but also reduces further friction between the line and the roller.


ABS - ANTI-BACKLASH SYSTEMThe super system, that allows long casts and prevents line twist reliably. The running of the line from the spool usually occurs in different big loops. The best approach for preventing twist of the line is the generation of large windings. DAIWA reels with ABS have spools, which are constructed in such way that they have a spool guide of a very large diameter. This spool guide is winding towards the top of the spool. The line winds regularly from the spool to prevent the twisting of the line. Thanks to this system longer casts are possible.


CROSS-WRAPDAIWA´s unique CrossWrap line laying system, cross wraps the line on the spool avoidng line dig in, increases line pick up and further increases casting distance.


UTD - ULTIMATE TOURNAMENT DRAG SYSTEMThe new DAIWA drag system. Includes impregnated drag discs, which are about 30 times more durable than normal discs. The effective drag power is considerably increased compared to normal drag systems. An additional advantage is the reduced start-up resistance - the drag starts working, when the adjusted drag power is reached and drags smoothly and steadily.

EXIST

With the new EXIST DAIWA presents another milestone in modern reel engineering. The new EXIST features finest technology and doesn‘t leave any wishes unfulfilled. Thanks to the ultra-lightweight body construction made of distortion proof ZAION material in combination with the MAG SEAL shaft a precise bearing of the gear is ensured. The gear is CNC-cut from one block and resists high strains. The distortion proof AIR rotor is about 15% lighter than conventional rotors and thereby more robust at the same time. Due to the shallow spools this series is perfect for the use of thin braided lines. The ultra-lightweight AIR spool additionally reduces weight. EXIST - reel engineering at its best.

The functional principle of the „Felt-Oil-Seal“ mechanism is rather similar – due to an oil-saturated felt-barrier, the infiltration of salt and dirt particles is almost perfectly prevented. Thus the gear can work smoothly without interferences and its durability is notably extended – especially in case of frequent strain. Furthermore the Zion reel body allows the construction of considerably lighter reels – enduring fatigue-proof fishing is the logic consequence. BALLISTIC SHWe are sure that our spinning reels from the BALLISTIC series will cut a dash during the fishing season 2012. Really everything is convincing – the sporty and modern design, the technical features and an astonishing price-performance-ratio. HVF Carbon fiberIn contrast to normal carbon fiber rods with high resin content in the space between the carbon fibers DAIWA HVF rods are made of a carbon fiber compound with less resin, called HVF - since resin has a high weight, rods made of HVF are more condensed, more light weight and feature a faster action.

SVF Carbon fiberIn contrast to HVF carbon fiber rods SVF carbon fiber rods are more sensitive and light weight, since they feature less resin content. The action is ultra fast and the notorious torque is reduced to a minimum.

Super SVF Carbon fiberThe resin content is reduced to a minimum, high modulus carbon fibers are used. Since this material is very expensive, it is only used for our top rods. Extreme lightweightness and an ultra fast action are the characteristics, which qualify rods made of SUPER SVF.

Z-SVF Carbon fiberZ-SVF is the most lightweight carbon fiber material DAIWA has ever applied. This material can only be used for a few rods, since is it very expensive and very complicated in the blank manufacturing process.

Predator Rods

The new TEAM DAIWA series was especially developed for fishing with soft plastic lures. These rods impress by their very small blank diameter, premium processing and an outstanding design. During the development phase, the focus of our engineers was the construction of a rod with minimal weight and a strong, stiff action which shows a smooth bending curve over the whole blank at rising strain at the same time. Thus the hook can be set instantaneous and the rod perfectly absorbs headshakes of pikes and zanders during the fight with the fish. Depending on the casting weight, the rod is also perfectly suitable for fishing with the Drachkovitch-rig. Due to its relatively short handle, the 2.4m version is proper for boat-fishing with soft plastic lures with about 30-70g casting weight. Both JIGGER versions are equipped with single leg guides.

The INFINITY Q SPIN is made for fishing with soft plastic lures and plugs. Thanks to the comparative hard action, plastic lures can be presented well – even over long distances the bottom structure can be detected easily. However, these rods also contain enough sensitivity to buffer headshakes and flights during the fight with the fish. The model with a casting weight of 15-45g is perfectly suitable for smaller soft plastic lures of 8-15cm and medium jig heads of 5-20g. The 30-60g model is a classical all-rounder, which can deal with both – light and heavy weights. The line`s special feature is its low stretch – you always have straight contact with the lure and increase your hook rate significantly. The main disadvantage of non-stretching lines – the low knot strength – has been eliminated completely in the case of the TEAM DAIWA. After the great success of the D-Fin and many requests for another, bigger softplastic lure we offer you a new D-Swim with about 14cm length, which make this lure a real all-rounder. Big perches are able to swallow this morsel, pikes are attracted since its appealing largeness and zanders can cope with this size without problems. The rubber formulation contains squid flavor, which obtained best results during extensive tests even at freshwater fish species. The rubber formulation is moreover color neutral - different colors can be stored together without staining. The color „Pro Green“ additionally contains fluo particles, which provide a better bite frequency especially in cloudy water. The iB-One Quick Chance System Genius simple - the quick change screw, which is not infused stationary in the bite indicator, is mounted and oriented on a bankstick without bite indicator. The bite indicator is just slid on and fixed with a knurled screw. It is always oriented to the rod in an angle of 90 degrees and can‘t twist, since the quick change screw is fixed by an integrated inner thread screw with the help of a hex driver (provided). Many customers have waited since years and have pushed us to become active in this field in order to develop a new DAIWA swimsuit. In cooperation with the leading producer for swimsuits and safety clothing in England we developed 2 swimsuits that fully satisfy the demand for high quality and safety aspects for fishing in Norway and Iceland as well as the hard conditions in the winter. The TEAM DAIWA swimsuit is available as one piece as well as two piece version (jacket and bib‘n brace) and captivates by is wearing comfort. The outer material made of 210D nylon is very supple and sturdy and gives good mobility. Of course the TEAM DAIWA swimsuits are totally wind- and water-proof. (WP 10.000 rating!) By the special inner Taslon lining, the suits offer even for great cold pleasant and warm wearing comfort. All pockets are created to avoid water running into it when it is raining or there is froth.
