Since 1999 head of the department of waste and resource management at Technical University of Braunschweig.
President of Center for Research, Education and Demonstration in Waste Management (CReED) since 2009.
From 2007 to 2009 he was appointed to the advisory board Federal Minister for the Environment Sigmar Gabriel.
Since 1983 active as consulting engineer in waste management with national and international project activities as a Shareholder and Managing Director of Ingenieurgemeinschaft Witzenhausen Fricke & Turk GmbH (IGW). Inventor of separate collection of bio waste and first implementation in a large scale project for the city of Witzenhausen (GER) in 1983.
Owner of Knoten Weimar GmbH – an international transfer center of waste management with focus is on biotechnologies 1999 – 2008.
Editor of the journal “Müll und Abfall” (Waste and Residues), Erich Schmidt Verlag Berlin since 2004.
Planning and realisation of over 200 digestion- and composting-plants in the years 1983-1999.
Published over 150 journal publications including 20 books.
