October 13, 2020 To Whom It May Concern: On behalf the Parents and Guardians of the students enrolled at Alverno Heights Academy’s Lower School, Transitional Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, the Alverno Parent-Teacher Association approves the school’s request for a county waiver to allow for in-person instruction as soon as possible. The school’s administration and faculty/staff have consistently kept our parent/guardian community apprised of health and safety planning throughout the summer months and these plans, we feel, have been reviewed and kept up-to-date while distance learning this Fall trimester. In a recent poll conducted by our Alverno Parent-Teacher Association, 97% of our school families are confident to return to on-campus, in-person instruction immediately. As per the communications that we have received from our faculty, the teachers are also prepared to return to in-person instruction at the earliest possible time. During the summer months, 80 of the students participated in the school’s summer program and no cases of COVID were reported to have been contracted by students, families or staff. On the whole, we also feel that our campus of 13 acres of mostly open-area spaces, combined with the portable technology and tablets supplied to all students, lends itself particularly well to COVID safety guidelines while also allowing for more normalized learning. We, the Alverno Parent-Teacher Association, ask for your consideration of our satisfaction with our school’s preparedness and ongoing communications as strong support for Alverno Heights Academy’s application for a waiver in regard to our Lower School. Sincerely, Rochelle Siegrist, APTA President

Good morning! I have had a few questions about testing, so I just wanted to clarify what the County health department is saying as of today. All teachers and students are ENCOURAGED to get a Flu shot. It is not mandatory and there is no formal reporting for this, but our goal is to offer flu shots on site for your convenience. However, in order to work with students once we return to school, you are REQUIRED to take a Covid 19 test within two weeks of students returning to school. They have not said how often you will need to retake the test. Our insurance will cover it, but please check with them before just going anywhere. We are looking into options to make the testing more convenient for you and since we are not back yet and still do not know when we will be Be Who You Imagine, Julia V. Fanara, M.A., M.Ed., P '01, '03, '05 Head of School (she/her)
