A LMASS Kuwait, the Alumini Association of Uzhavoor St.Stephen’s College in Kuwait celebrated its first Anniversary on Friday, 22 Nov 2013 at Khaitan Indian School. The celebration was inaugurated by prominent Malayalam Cine Artisit Lalu Alex who is a former student of St.Stephen’s College. The inaugural meeting was presided by ALMASS chair- man Siby John. The program started off by bringing the special guests to the dais in a tradi- tional Keralite ‘red-carpet’ way of wel- coming enriched with bands of drum- mers, pipers and colourful umbrellas. Jijo Thomas welcomed the gathering and Roby John, the General Secretary presented ALMASS’ annual report. After president Siby John’s address, Lalu Alex delivered the inaugural speech and appealed the audience by sharing his college days’ experiences. The chief guest Lalu Alex along with other dignitaries released ALMASS’ bul- letin ‘Memories’ and launched the web- site www.almasskuwait.com after the speeches of Editor Jijo Mathew and media convenor Clintus George. Chessil Ramapuram and Jyothidas conveyed the greetings and Joint Treasurer Siby Kurien presented organization’s income- expenditure details. Senior alumni of the college were honoured during the func- tion. Joint Sec Shimsen proposed vote of thanks. The program was well com- pered by 98.4 FM fame Lucia. During the program the general com- mittee also elected the new office bear- ers. Jose Abraham (Chairman), Philip Simon (General Secretary) and Arun Kumar (Treasurer) shall lead the organi- zation in the coming year. The entertainment part of the pro- gram show-cased the top-notch talents of ALMASS family members and friends. Audience enjoyed foot tapping dances of different forms such as classical, cine- matic, Bollywood hits etc. The skit per- formed by ex-students of the college lead by Joby Jose was the performance of the day. The program concluded with a musical event. A large crowd assem- bled for the program and the events were of an exhilarating experience to all. The ceremony was held at the Sheraton Hotel under the auspices of MOE’s assistant undersecretary for public education Dr Khaled Al- Rasheed, ELT Supervisor General, Nouriya Al-Sidra and BCC’s manager, Andrew Glass. Notably, English HODs from Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational Zone, Samir Al-Saeed, Mohammed Abdul Raziq, Hamdi Al-Nahhas, Mohammed Abdul Mon’en, Ahmed Abdullah and Hatem Abu Saif were all honored for passing the course. Well done guys and keep up the good work. Mubarak Al-Kabeer English Department HODs honored ICSK-Junior Branch conduct Diwali Assembly I t was a riot of colors as the students of ICSK Junior celebrated Diwali by put- ting up a spectacular Diwali assembly in the school premises on Monday 11th November 2013 during the school hours. The junior school stage was beaming with Diwali lamps and colorful decora- tions. Diwali is a joyous occasion that brings brightness, joy and happiness to all. The assembly started with the school prayer. A few special Diwali songs were presented by the school choir. The depic- tion of Diwali caught everyone’s atten- tion. It was truly informative. The students depicted various stories and legends associated with Diwali, bringing out the underlying theme of ultimate triumph of good over evil. The dances set to foot tapping numbers and fusion music were appreciated by one and all. The Principal Incharge Sherly Dennis addressed the gathering wishing everyone Diwali greetings. In her speech she advised the student to be good, as the little good deeds they do in their formative years will all add up and help them to become good people when they grow up. The assembly ended with a vote of thanks. T he Touristic Enterprises Company hosted an Open Day at the Khairan Resort for the Kuwait Down Syndrome Society. A team from the resort’s management led by General Manager Adnan Zinedine wel- comed children and their families who enjoyed a special entertaining program that includes train trips, a boat cruise and lunch at the Al-Behar Restaurant. TIES Center - Where cultures meet “T he TIES Center is glad to announce that its Winter 2 Arabic language courses will begin on Sunday January 19 until Wednesday March 5, 2014. We offer class- es for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Our classes are specially tai- lored to meet the needs and require- ments of expats living in Kuwait.
