Photo by: Ali Omar Greetings K uwait Royal Enfield Club (KREC) was formed in January 2016 and is a group of multi-national Royal Enfield motor bike owners hailing from Kuwait, India, Russia, Jordan, Philippines, Pakistan and Nepal. KREC organized the “Indian Independence Ride” on Friday, 12th August, 2016 to commemorate the 70th Independence Day of India. The Royal Enfield riders assembled by 6.a.m on the seaside opposite to the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. Following self-introduction by all the attendees, KREC President Dr. Kiran Gopinathan addressed the gathering on the aim, route, and mission of ride. After clicking photos of the bikes and the riders with the Indian Embassy as the background, the group rode towards the Kuwait Towers, which is the most famous Kuwait landmark recognized global- ly. The group included Mr. Victor Winsent (IO Centre), Mr. Vinu Nair (KAICO), Mr. Youseff ‘joe’ Al-Sadi (Equate Petrochemical Co.), Mr. Roosewel Parial (KAICO), Mr. Mohammed Amanulla (Country Club Fitness FTX), Mr. Zohrab Tashejan (Carrefour), Mr. Saleem Hyder (Jashanmal), Mr. Fakhri Ibrahim ( Interior Design Consultants) and Mr. Sajan Ramachandran (Capago Mena) and they had a discussion on motorcy- cle safety and future ride plans. Vice President Mr. Abdulkarim AlSayegh emphasized and thanked the Indian community on their substantial role in shaping Kuwait to its present high medical, industrial and con- struction standards. Photo session continued against the backdrop of Kuwait Towers with the riders hold- ing Indian flags of various sizes. The riders then moved along the Arabian Gulf Street towards Salmiya where a group of Indian cricketers where enthusiastically playing even in this scorching summer heat. The prestigious cap of Kuwait Royal Enfield Club was distributed to all the cricketers including Mr. Justin Antony, Mr. Joby Jose, Mr. Shibu George Adoor, Mr. Shine, Mr. Philson, Mr. Sumesh, Mr. Abin and Mr. Pradeep. The cricketers invited the KREC members to join them for matches in future. Many of them disclosed their passion for the Royal Enfield but were unknown that the legendary Indian motor- bike is very much available in Kuwait. Following photo session with the cricketers, the riders con- voyed through the streets in Salmiya Block 10 and finally con- cluded at Udupi restaurant for a tra- ditional Indian breakfast. A large crowd of shoppers and well- wishers were on hand to witness the function. This is a significant achievement for LuLu Hypermarket as it becomes the first hypermarket in Kuwait to be awarded this accreditation. The brand has consistently undertaken all measures needed to ensure the highest standards in the sourcing, storage, display and sale of their prod- ucts. The ISO 22000-2005 accreditation reiterates the hypermarket’s high standards in food safety man- agement and its commitment to ensure that its various outlets have the ability to control food safety hazards and to provide consumers with foods that are of the best and safest quality. The certification further demonstrates the hypermarket’s compliance with all regulatory requirements regarding food safety and efficient handling of food, and underlines the brand’s sup- port for strong quality control in the food sector and the implementation of exemplary food man- agement systems for the food industry.
