Often people attend Mass at All Souls for several years, but never register. Registering here is a declaration of your desire to be part of a Catholic community and to make a commitment to the life of All Souls Church.

Being a registered parishioner makes the process much easier when it is time for infant baptism, school or religious education registration, weddings, when asked to be a baptismal or confirmation sponsor, and even funerals. A registered parishioner receives all parish mailings, too. Church law advises that territories or boundaries no longer limit parish registration. All Souls accepts anyone who wants to share in the life of the parish regardless of where they live. In order to register, you need to complete a registration card. These may be found in the narthex of the church or chapel, the parish office during the week or online at our parish website: www.allsoulssanford.org. Why not sign up today?

LPI, Inc.

10º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

"When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her." A

survey of the Gospels reveals many ways in which Jesus upheld the dignity of women. In a culture where women were considered second-class citizens, Jesus was never afraid to encounter women, to affirm them, and to welcome them among his followers. He regularly broke rules about interaction with women and understood the value of women's religious testimony. In today's Gospel we see another aspect of Jesus' respect for women. Here we see that his heart was stirred by the situation of this grieving mother. The man who had died was "the only son of his mother, and she was a widow." In other words, this woman had just been stripped of her primary focus in life. Also, in this culture, a woman was protected by her father, her husband, or her son. Absent one of those men in her life, she was in an incredibly vulnerable position. This, along with the grief of losing her child, struck the Lord with pity. "Do not weep," he told her, clearly moved by her sorrow. And then, he did the impossible and restored the dead man to life. But he did more than this. After "the dead man sat up ... Jesus gave him to his mother." In other words, Jesus made a point to restore and affirm this woman's vocation as a mother. In our culture, women have earned a much more respectable status and are no longer dependent upon men. But, at times, the noble and irreplaceable role of mother is still undervalued in society. Too often, women who devote themselves to this vocation are dismissed as unimportant. Christ himself reveals, through his ministry to this mother, that her role is vital. May we also find ways to affirm and serve the mothers in our midst. LPI, Inc.

Those left behind when a family member is incarcerated are just as affected as the inmates themselves. "Outmates" need not be isolated by this experience. Families reaching out to each other can help ease the pain. We offer each other information and support. If you would like to be in contact with others in this situation, please join us in the Mother Theresa Room in the St. Mary Magdalen Parish Life Center, 861 Maitland Ave., Altamonte Springs, FL on Sat. June 18th at 9:00 am. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be available. For further information please contact Jean or Jack Canatsey at [email protected] or call 407.463.5780 or 407.695.6818.

Catholic Heart Workcamp This June, 55 teens and adults from our Youth Ministry program, D.A.W.G. will be traveling to

Richmond, VA to serve alongside over 400 youth from all over the country. We will be serving the neglected, brokenhearted and marginalized in any way needed. Pope Francis has called us all to be living witnesses of God’s mercy. We will feed the hungry, visit the sick and clothe the naked. We will participate in the Sacraments all week, grow in our Catholic faith and fortify our relationships with God. Will you help? We know it’s a difficult time to consider making investments, but that is what we are asking. Will YOU make an investment in the young people of All Souls? With a small donation towards our mission trip you would be a part of the transformation of our teens, the people we serve and in the life of our church. We need to raise close to $650 per student. These are teens you know well in our parish. They are Servers, Vacation Bible School leaders, Young Vincentians and more and they need your help. Please consider making an investment in us! Checks may be made payable to All Souls Catholic Church and mailed to the parish office, attention Michelle Murphy. (301 W. 8th Street, Sanford 32771). Donations can also be made online through “Online Giving” at allsoulssanford.org No amount is too small! If you are unable to donate at this time would you please keep us in your prayers? Every day we will be praying in thanksgiving for all of our All Souls Parish family.

Making a Difference: From a teacher at a local elementary school: “Thank you again for the pretty pink tennis shoes. My students continue to amaze me with their generosity! Even though needy themselves, they think of others! I asked the girls who would like the shoes to put their name in the hat. Having only three

who could fit the shoes, I was surprised to find four names. Come to find out one of the boys put in his sister's name. He later explained his sister had a birthday coming and she could use a new pair. In the end they all chose a girl from another class who was more in need!” Food Pantry Need of the Week: Canned tuna. Last Week: We collected 82 items with a retail value of $190. Thanks! Vincentian Reflection: In the Gospel we see how Jesus was moved with pity and said to the widow, “Do not cry,” and the people knew that “God had visited his people.” When you hear the cries of the poor and reach out to help them, deep in their hearts the poor know that “God has visited them.”

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK: When we have a particular need or are experiencing a difficulty, it is natural to reach out to God to help fill the void or help us with our burden. God is a God of love and mercy and a God who knows us better than we even know ourselves. God is not dependent upon our prayers and often acts, not because he was asked, but because he loves.
