Stuart Chafetz is a conductor with a

dynamic podium demeanour and a

refined sense of audience engagement.

Increasingly in demand with orchestras

across the continent, this season

Chafetz will be on the podium in Seattle,

Washington, D.C. (National Symphony

Orchestra), Naples, Phoenix, Atlanta,

Milwaukee, Vancouver, Costa Mesa

(Pacific Symphony), Raleigh Durham

(North Carolina Symphony) and others.

He makes his NAC debut with this

evening’s concert.

Stuart Chafetz previously held the

posts of Resident Conductor of the

Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and

Associate Conductor of the Louisville

Orchestra. As principal timpanist of the

Honolulu Symphony for twenty years, he

would also conduct the annual Nutcracker

performances with Ballet Hawaii and

principals from the American Ballet

Theatre. It was during that time that

Chafetz led numerous concerts with the

Maui Symphony and Pops.

In the summers, he spends his time

at the Chautauqua Institution, where he

conducts the annual Fourth of July and

Opera Pops concerts. He makes his home

near San Francisco, California, with his wife,

Ann Krinitsky. Chafetz holds a bachelor’s

degree in music performance from the

College-Conservatory of Music at the

University of Cincinnati and a master’s

from the Eastman School of Music.

Nicole Parker is best known for her

portrayal of Elphaba in the Broadway

production and First National Tour of

Wicked. Her other Broadway credits

include Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me

and The People in the Picture with Donna

Murphy. Regionally, she played Juliet

in The Second City’s Romeo and Juliet

Musical at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.

For six years, Nicole was also a

cast member and contributing writer

on Fox’s MADtv and for two years she

was a performer and writer for Boom

Chicago, an all-American sketch and

improvisation theatre in Amsterdam. She

is also a founding member of Waterwell, a

non-profit theatre company in New York.

Nicole Parker is a frequent soloist with

orchestras around the country. Recent and

upcoming performances include Peter Nero

and the Philly Pops, Houston Symphony,

Phoenix Symphony, Utah Symphony and

Opera, Colorado Symphony, Greensboro

Symphony, Kalamazoo Symphony, Santa

Rosa Symphony, Pueblo Symphony,

Charleston Symphony, Sarasota Symphony,

Orlando Symphony, North Carolina

Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Dayton

Philharmonic, Idaho Civic Symphony,

Hamilton Philharmonic and Fresno

Philharmonic. She makes her NAC debut

with this evening’s concert.

Born and raised in Bozeman, Montana,

Aaron C. Finley’s career as a professional

actor and singer has spanned from

coast to coast. Educated at Pacific

Lutheran University in Seattle, he quickly

became a top-tier talent in the Pacific

Northwest, appearing in productions

of Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus/Judas),

Rent (Roger), Fiddler on the Roof (Perchik),

Hairspray (Link Larkin) and It Shoulda

Been You (Greg Madison). Among his other

regional roles, Aaron originated the role

of Billy in the new musical Diner, based on

the Barry Levinson film, with music and

lyrics by Sheryl Crow and direction by

Kathleen Marshall.

Aaron made his Broadway debut in

2013, starring as Drew Boley in Rock of

Ages. Next, he took over the role of Brian

Howard in It Shoulda Been You, directed

by David Hyde Pierce. He most recently

was seen in the Broadway production of

Kinky Boots as leading man Charlie Price.

Among his other work in New York, he

participated in a lab production of George

Takei’s Broadway musical, Allegiance, as

well as other workshops and readings of

new works. This evening’s show marks his

NAC debut.

Since graduating from the National

Theatre School of Canada, Manon St-Jules

has had a bilingual career, performing in

classical and contemporary plays for big

and small companies in Toronto (Canadian

Stage, Festival of Classics, Theatre Direct,

Pleiades), Montreal (Théâtre Denise

Pelletier, Centaur Theatre, Compagnie à

Numéro) and Sudbury (Sudbury Theatre

Centre, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario). In

Ottawa, she has performed at the NAC,

the Great Canadian Theatre Company,

Arts Court and Théâtre la Catapulte.

She regularly hosts concerts with the

NAC Orchestra, as well as contributing to

events such as the Governor General’s

Performing Arts Awards Gala.

Her work on-camera includes

dramatic as well as comedic parts in film,

television and commercials as well as

various multimedia projects. Selected

credits include St-Nickel (UnisTV),

Tobi Hunt McCoy is enjoying another

year as Season Stage Manager with the

National Arts Centre Orchestra. In past

seasons, Ms. McCoy stage managed

the Lord of the Rings Symphony,

Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s

Dream with Christopher Plummer in

2001 and Colm Feore in 2014, and much

of the Orchestra’s educational and Pops

programming. Also in 2014, she co-

produced the Pops show On the Air with

Jack Everly for the Edmonton Symphony

Orchestra, a show they also produced in

2007 for the NAC Orchestra.

Additional professional duties have

included bracing the backstage doors

against the almighty power of Richard

Strauss, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the

air conditioning system at Montreal’s La

Maison Symphonique, guest conducting

the NAC Orchestra in rehearsal for the

Black & White Opera Soiree, providing air-

guitar support during the Led Zeppelin

tribute concert, shepherding numerous

choruses to and from the rehearsal hall,

utilising her creative Vancouver French with

the combined choral and orchestral forces

in Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, and duck

wrangling for the Mysterioso Pops concert.

She is excited to be back teaching

English and Drama at Lisgar Collegiate.

Tobi Hunt McCoy poursuit sa collaboration

fait un peu de tout : bloqué les portes de

l’arrière-scène de la Maison symphonique

de Montréal pour faire échec au pouvoir

tout-puissant de Richard Strauss, de

Yannick Nézet-Séguin et du système de

climatisation; dirigé l’Orchestre du CNA

durant une répétition de la Soirée d’opéra

Noir et Blanc; joué de la guitare imaginaire

dans un concert hommage à Led Zeppelin;

accompagné de nombreux chœurs dans

leurs allées et venues à l’arrière-scène;

exercé avec créativité son français de

Vancouvéroise avec l’ensemble combiné

chœur et orchestre dans la Huitième

symphonie de Mahler; et fait la guerre à

un canard dans le cadre du concert Pops

Mysterioso.

Cette année encore, elle prend plaisir

à enseigner l’anglais et l’art dramatique au
