Page 7: Aldinger, Maggie_ Google Maps.docx · Web viewLets Take a Walk By: Maggie Aldinger Assessment Criteria Criterion A: Knowing & understanding Maximum: 8 Students should be able to:

This is Gianyar, one of the cities in Bali. The buildings are short and like they usually have the house in the shop. So the shop is on the first floor and the house is on the first floor.

This is the centre or basically the old museum of Denpasar. You can see the city id wide and also that this is probably one of the only grassy areas of Denpasar. Having to be a busy city it is filled with the houses and tall buildings.

Denpasar has many more buildings rather than Gianyar, Gianyar has a more lower buildings like maybe not so high into the sky while denpasar is a city full of lights and concrete buildings. Gianyar has smaller roads and its not that busy while Denpasar has big roads and its really busy. I think that in Gianyar the people are like more local and maybe more from the village and also there are not so much people who are wealthy so they can not pay for good building workers maybe just experienced house builders that are local to the area. You can already see

Page 8: Aldinger, Maggie_ Google Maps.docx · Web viewLets Take a Walk By: Maggie Aldinger Assessment Criteria Criterion A: Knowing & understanding Maximum: 8 Students should be able to:

when you get to Denpasar that there is a lot motorbikes and cars, the people living in that area are also a lot. When you get to Gianyar its a little bit busy but not as busy as Denpasar. There is a couple of roads that are big in Gianyar they are maybe a wide road and sometimes in the noon some bikers come out and bike till 9:30 pm. Gianyar has many vilas since it is close to the ricefields of ubud, it also has many big roads and statues but they don’t have hotels and big buildings. Denpasar is a huge city containing hotels, malls and other modern buildings.

8. Many trucks and containers often travel from Bali to Java to get supplies. With My Map, create the traffic route from Denpasar to the Gilimanuk Port. Insert a screenshot here.

9. Paste the url link to your Google Bali Map here.URL to my google maps- https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zuUME4Nhc2K4.kXUdi8koIIgU&hl=en

I was not able to insert an image and a youtube clip so I only added the links in the description.

SPECIALIZED BALI MAP created by YOU!!

SPECIALIZED BALI MAP created by YOU!!

1. What do you believe are important social services for people living in Bali? Show your research here. Decide upon one area of social services that is particularly important to you. Your research should include a minimum of 4 sites, including a screenshot, url, and summary of what the site says about the issue you are looking at.

BARC Ubud. Link to this website - http://www.balidogrefuge.com/

This is an organization in ubud. This organization has many types of ways to save dogs. The first way is the good karma shop and rehabilitation centre. This helps stray bali dogs recover and socialize the dogs so they can get into a new home. I am looking at the problem of Bali dogs in Bali, the stray dogs have rabies or it has some skin disease. Yhese are huge problems and is the dogs are not saved or if they are not cared for things like diseases can spread and some rabies can kill or damage our health.

Muslim orphanage - http://www.hendra.ws/daftar-panti-asuhan-di-bali/

Page 10: Aldinger, Maggie_ Google Maps.docx · Web viewLets Take a Walk By: Maggie Aldinger Assessment Criteria Criterion A: Knowing & understanding Maximum: 8 Students should be able to:

This is a specialized map for Bali’s orphanages, there are some muslim one but this site does not talk about the orphanage, only the location. I am looking at homeless children in Bali having trouble getting around, these orphanages also give help to kids and some give help to the elderly. These people who help the elderly help like medication. The important message is that i’m trying to find a community to help all ages.

Kimia Farma - http://www.kimiafarmaapotek.com/

Kimia farma provides good medicine and also they do online orders. They also provide medicine for hospitals. Having good medicine for hospitals can help us heal the sick people. Good medication for good people.

Blood donations in Indonesia - http://www.pmi.or.id/ina/program/?act=detail&id_sub=59

This is called palang merah Indonesia but in english it is called red cross Indonesia! this is a group of people who go out into a location and stay there for a while, waiting for people who have been in an accident having to go to the hospital and people can donate blood to the ones who have lost blood. Usually it men donate blood since women sometimes have a problem with blood limits and like incase they have a baby they need the blood.

2. Now you must also include two other sources of information that do not believe the social service that you have researched is a necessity for the people of Bali and give a contradictory opinion or argument. Show the screenshot of the site or article, include the url, and make a statement.

1. http://cdn.intechopen.com/pdfs/19620/InTech-Debate_for_and_against_euthanasia_in_the_control_of_dog_populations.pdf

This article does not talk about Bali but it does talk about other dog organizations. I think that all organizations for rescuing dogs are apart of this article. “Euthanasia” is a big word and it means killing or putting to sleep. This is about the populations of dogs in many places and also their health and actions on the street.

Page 11: Aldinger, Maggie_ Google Maps.docx · Web viewLets Take a Walk By: Maggie Aldinger Assessment Criteria Criterion A: Knowing & understanding Maximum: 8 Students should be able to:

3. Now build a map that you can share with newbies to Bali to help them find their way from BIS to various social services on the island. Include a screenshot and the url to it here.Your map should include the following:

a. BIS placemark & 5 Placemarks that are related to your topic.

b. An original image icon for EACH placemark, a url to the website, and a description about the placemark.

c. Also include distances and routes using the “Draw line along roads” feature from BIS to your social service site.

d. Include two screenshots here of your creation, the Map & Satellite views, plus a url (and make me a collaborator), and title your document: Last Name, First Name_Social Service Topic.

This is my social service map, I have chosen to do kimia pharmacy which is only one type of pharmacy, the biggest company in Indonesia. having also only BARC is found in Ubud and nowhere else in Ubud, only in Ubud!Click HERE to view my google map!
