In November, the Dallas Arboretum
changes its scenes of autumn to that of
the Twelve Days of Christmas. Throughout
the beautifully landscaped acres of flowers, you find large
structures that depict every part of the song from the
partridge in a pear tree to the twelve drummers drumming.
We will bundle up and take a tour of these wonderful sights
and enjoy a terrific lunch together, so be sure to sign up at
the front desk.
As a community, we are always taking the opportunities to grow
and learn through a variety of ways. On a recent trip to the Frisco
Heritage Museum, not only did we learn from our wonderful docent,
but our own, Betty Shaw, shared a wealth of information regarding
the history of Collin and Grayson Counties as they were in the
earlier days when they were primarily farming communities. She
shared so many interesting facts that even our docent did not know,
which made for an especially fun time together. Upon leaving the
museum, we took a tour of some of the various landmarks in Frisco
that we had just learned about which made things come to life even
more.

November 2019
The Inn
Residents of the Inn had a
terrific time celebrating Judd
Jones' 87th birthday on a
recent outing to Medieval
Times! With 1000 attendees
in the arena, we all gave a
cheer as the king announced,
"A very special birthday wish
to Lord Jones as he turns 87!"
Judd said that it was the most
fun birthday he's had. We ate
with our hands, and watched the various events take place in the
arena. As we ate with our hands, just as they did during the middle
ages, residents enjoyed watching the dancing horse show, the
falconry demonstration, and the knights of each team joust and
battle until there was a final winner, which just so happened to be
the red knight...our team! Once the show ended, our group had an
exclusive opportunity to hear background information about the
show, it's knights and it's horses from the manager and then had
our own private photo session with the knights, making it a perfect
ending to a perfect outing!
Strong at 87!Each month we will begin offering a
special health discussion for you as
residents. We would love your input as to
what topics interest you the most, so
that we can plan accordingly.
Are you concerned about flu season and
how to keep your immune system
strong? Are you interested in the topics
of depression, or ways to attain better
sleep each night? You probably have
several topics of interest regarding your
health and wellness, both physical and
mental, so be sure to let Sheree know
what these are so that she can bring you
the very best in education on these
various topics.
We look forward to growing in our
knowledge and health together.
Path to Well-Being
Russell Turner is a house favorite here at Parkview. With his witty humor
and fascinating abilities with magic, the residents always end up amazed at
his show of tricks! One in particular was that of Pat Hickman's wedding
ring. When Russell asked if he could borrow it for a trick, she was hesitant,
but decided to do it. Russell made it disappear before our very eyes, but to
our dismay, he seemed to be unsuccessful in making it re-appear. As he
went through a series of searches for the ring, he finally opened a box that
held another box inside, then another, and yet another. Once he got to the
smallest of boxes he found that it was locked. To our surprise, one of the
residents was holding the key to that box, and as he opened it, Pat's heart
jumped for joy! She was reunited with her beloved wedding ring! How he
did this, we'll never know!
