The boll weevil is a long, grey, snouted beetle. It sort of migrated, meaning it started around Florida, went through Georgia, and up and out. The boll weevil is the main contender to the death of king cotton.

A drought is a series of no rain or replenishment to farming lands. This destroyed most crops in Georgia, causing farmers to start to lean towards technology.

Some economic factors that resulted in the Great Depression were that the USA bought more than they could repay, bank failures, drought conditions, and the world famous Stock Market Crash of ‘29, otherwise known as Black Tuesday.

The CCC, AAA, REA, and the SSA were all created by President Roosevelt when he made the New Deal. These were made to make life easier and help with his recovery program for America in the depression.

Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941. This was the last straw for America to join World War II. America also provided lend-lease to Great Britain and the Soviet Union just before we got involved.

Bell Aircraft was located in Marietta, Georgia. It was designed to make B29 bombers (aka: flying fortresses) Savannah and Brunswick shipyards were used to ship supplies to Europe and its Allies while we were declared neutral. Richard Russell Jr was a very good and important governor of Georgia. He put a lot of President Roosevelt’s plans into action. Carl Vinson was known as the father or the Two-Ocean Navy.

The Holocaust was the mass genocide of about 6 million Jews by Adolf Hitler and Germany. The Jews were discriminated for their beliefs. This made Georgians seriously re-consider their thoughts and actions against blacks and their families.
