Special thanks must go to Trish Bathard and Rachel Carr, in particular, and the key personnel on the FaCE Team along with staff who have all contributed hugely into making our Food Fair such a success. STEM CODE CLUB: Especially for young women and Maori students (https://www.codeclub.nz/ (https://www.codeclub.nz/)) STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)It is significant that many students including, young women and Maori tend not to become involved in these keyareas of the changing global economy. Here is an opportunity to address this by a positive intervention. A Year 6 student at Miramar Central in 2008Aleisha Amohia is now entering her second year at Victoria University studying a BSc majoring in ComputerScience, and a BComm majoring in Management.   Getting more women and young Maori interested in STEMsubjects, particularly technology is a big focus for her this year.  If you are interested she would love to start a code club at MCS on Wednesdays after school. The club would ideally consist of 10-15 students, preferably in years 5-6.  If your child would be interested injoining this STEM Code Club please contact the Principal by email [email protected] or phone939-0684. 2017 TERM DATES: Term One: 1 February - 13 AprilTerm Two: 1 May - 7 JulyTerm Three: 24 July - 29 SeptemberTerm Four: 16 October - 15 December 2017 STATUTORY HOLIDAYS - School Closed:Good Friday: Friday 14 April ANZAC Day: Tuesday 25 AprilQueen's Birthday: Monday 5 JuneLabour Day: Monday 23 October
