CHANGE: Anglers, especially fly fishers, are a breedapart. Questing for maximum performance butoccasionally, looking back to the past.

For 20 years, here at Airflo we have dedicated ourselves tochange. We have, in our own small way tried to redefine the wayyou fish with a fly rod; Pushing back barriers and embracing thecutting edge of pioneering technology. Occasionally we failed;mostly though, we have set new standards just as we have withour Polyfuse system and embracing modern more conservationconscious material. We are setting new standards of performance,presentation and accessibility way into the future.

Recently we have brought science and art together with RidgeTechnology, Seamless loops, Total density compensation andhigher degrees of performance than you could ever imagine. Wehave embraced the future and brought about “change”. Not forchanges sake but because we want you, the fisher, to benefit.

Of course we are perfectionist, too. Rest on our laurels? Us? Youmust be joking. Anyway, if we stopped developing cutting edge flyline and leader technology there would be no need to go out andtest them would there?

I never thought that I would bedoing this. Writing in thiscatalogue about these lines! The fact that I am, and about tosay glowing things about theSixth Sense is, quite frankly,testament to how far thiscompany has come in producingfly lines to rival any in the world!I mean that. I have now fished these lines wellover 12 months solid and they do as they say “onthe packet”: I now use them for all my fishingand demonstrating - without reservation. But Itook a lot of persuading (I am very, very fussyabout lines) and I suspect that you will, too. Butlet’s just strip away prejudice just for a moment.Wouldn’t you want a line that floats high andgives ultra fast bite detection? Of course youwould. Don’t you want a line that allows you tofeel what is going on? Feel the kick and jive of afly as it seeks out your quarry through the crucialdepths? Of course you do. Well, I finally came to my senses. What aboutyou? We understand probably more than mostthat you will be doing a great deal of casting in between fish, therefore your flyline must be right for you.

We also understand that there is no suchthing as any one river or single castingstyle.

So we give you a choice … for the moretraditional angler still welded to the dou-ble tapers of old – and there is nothingwrong in that – we have the Delta Speylong and for the more ‘Clipper’Scandinavian style with shorter strokeswe have the Delta Spey.

A few words of advice on shooting heads.

Shooting heads are an excellent line choice when looking for alittle extra distance or when space limits your back cast – some-times putting you into fish when no other line will do.

When casting shooting heads, aim to aerialise only 3’-4’ of run-ning line – this will help you control the cast and get maximumdistance.

Make an oversize loop in your running line – allowing the com-plete coil to fit through the loop makes changing heads easy –check out our new Ridge running line complete with oversizedFlexi Loop.

Finally, if your looking to fine tune the lengths of your head sys-tem, try adding a 5’ or 10’ Polyleader of the same density – foroptimum balance we recommend Salmon/Saltwater models.
