Progression to HE and Free School Meals (FSM)The gap of 23.7% between successful applicants to HE in receipt of FSM and those not in receipt is an issue for the county.Nevertheless, the county has the 3rd highest rate in the region of FSM successful applicants at 11.6% There has also been a marked growth between 2008-09 at Level 2 in the %age of FSM students gaining 5+ A* -C (+11%) or % A*-C Including Eng & Maths (+4%). This should filter up through the system.
Aimhigher could add FSM into its targeting criteria if the LA wants us to.

2 Has there been an increase from those areas that traditionally have not sent many young people to HE?
3 Has there been an increase from young people from lower occupational backgrounds?

boys• Need to ensure Admissions staff understand
new 14-19 curriculum• Grow vocational pathways• Impact on capping to admissions and HE cuts
