Chris will set out the history of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and explain what AI is and how it works. He will then discuss the benefits that AI can bring and the principal ethical issues which AI raises, as well as their key economic and legal implications. Chris Rees is Immediate Past President of the British Computer Society, the Chartered Institute for IT. He specialises in the Ethics of AI. Previously he was a Partner at Deloitte Consulting and then a Director of Charteris plc. He is a long-time student and tutor in the School. Artificial IntelligencePROMISE OR THREAT?

Chris will set out the history of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and explain what AI is and how it works. He will then discuss the benefits that AI can bring and the principal ethical issues which AI raises, as well as their key economic and legal implications.
