German firms urged to explore new opportunities in KSA

Saudi Arabia and Germany are seeking to develop their economic ties, the SPA news agency reported after talks in Riyadh between offi-cials from the two countries. “The amount of trade and joint in-vestments does not reflect the eco-nomic potential of both countries’ economies,” said Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf, following the meet-ing. German Vice Chancellor and Econ-omy Minister Sigmar Gabriel said his

country was ready to boost its role in diversifying the Saudi economy, especially in infrastructure, transport and the petrochemicals sectors, SPA reported. Bilateral trade between Germany and Saudi Arabia reached $12.4 billion in 2013, of which the King-dom’s exports to the European pow-erhouse amounted to a mere $418 million, according to figures provided by Al-Assaf. The countries have 191 joint projects

with a total investment of $17.2 bil-lion, said Al-Assaf, who invited Ger-man companies to explore further opportunities in the Kingdom. After Riyadh, Gabriel’s delegation is to visit the UAE and Qatar. Source: http://www.arabnews.com/economy/news/715461

Saudi German Business Forum and Joint Economic Commission held in Riyadh

More than 120 very high-ranking company representatives from Ger-many accompanied German Vice Chancellor and Minister for Econom-ic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel on his official visit to Riyadh to at-tend the 19th Saudi German Joint Economic Commission and the Sau-di German Business Forum. The Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) in cooperation with the Ger-man-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (AHK Saudi Ara-bia) and the North Africa and Middle East Initiative of German Business (NMI) organized the Saudi German Business Forum parallel to the Joint Economic Commission on 8th March 2015 in the King Faisal Hall of the Intercontinental Hotel Riyadh. More than 400 German and Saudi Arabian top decision makers took part in the forum. The forum was opened by H.E. Brigitte Zypries,

German Parliamentary State Secre-tary of Economy, H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Zamil, Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC), Dr. Volker Treier, Deputy CEO of the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Indus-try (DIHK), Sheikh Khaled Al Juffali, Co-Chairman of the Saudi-German Business Council and Managing Partner at E.A. Juffali and Brothers Group and Dr. Wolfgang Büchele, Co-Chairman of the Saudi-German Business Council and Chairman of Linde Group. Representing the economies of both countries, the participating entrepre-neurs discussed further opportunities for cooperation in four panels cover-ing the topics industrial diversifica-tion, Infrastructure and Transport, Energy and Energy Efficiency and Opportunities and Regulatory Chal-lenges in Bilateral Trade. Andreas

Hergenröther, Delegate of German Industry & Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen was co-moderating the forum: “Today, Saudi Arabia is the most important partner in the MENA region for the German Economy. Germany’s economy stands for fair business, the active transfer of knowhow as well as for high quality products. These are the main reasons for the extraordinary success of German exports world-wide“, Hergenroether said. The attending businessmen used this opportunity to meet high-ranking Saudi business representatives to improve existing business relations and to search for new opportunities for cooperation. The forum ended with the signing of the agreed minutes by H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of Finance of Saudi Arabia and H.E. Sigmar Gabriel.

Saudi German Business Forum (SGBF) The Saudi German Business Forum is a key platform for the promotion of bilateral trade, transfer of technology and investment to discuss issues of mutual interest for the Saudi and Ger-man sides. From a business perspec-tive the official visit of H.E. Sigmar Gabriel and the huge accompanying delegation of more than 120 high-ranking businessmen marked the most important event of the year 2015. AHK Saudi Arabia organized this event in close collaboration with the Council of Saudi Chambers and the Saudi Ger-man Business Council. The last editions of the Saudi German Business Forum were held at the House of German Economy in Berlin on the 11th of November 2013 and before this in June 2012 in Riyadh during the Joint Economic Commis-sion. The 2015 edition was composed of several sessions that underlined the importance of selected topics which comprised of infrastructure, industrial diversification and energy including energy efficiency. Furthermore the participants discussed a survey stating major concerns for German and Saudi-Arabian companies to resolve problems related to chal-lenging regulatory frameworks and clarify perspectives for investment and sustainable development. Speakers at the according panel ‘Opportunities and Regulatory Challenges in Bilateral Trade’ were H.E. Mohammed Al Jasser, Minister of Economy and Planning and H.E. Abdulatif Al Oth-man, Governor of SAGIA. The panel was moderated by the GESALO-Delegate Andreas Hergenröther. The theme of energy efficiency is of crucial importance for Saudi Arabia. Therefore, one of the discussion pan-els of the forum was dedicated to that issue. The panel was attended by HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Vice Minister for Petroleum and Miner-al Resources and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Saudi Energy Efficiency Center. Although KSA is the largest oil exporter in the world and maintains the world's largest crude oil production capacity, it might come under pressure as population growth sustains at a high growth rate and per capita consumption is among the

highest in the world. National energy consumption – more than 80 % is used for air-conditioning – is rising by 8 % per year. If this current consumption trend continues, hundreds of billions of USD have to be invested in new power plants and other energy resources. To reduce the energy consumption KSA has sharpened energy efficiency rules for industrial production and buildings which offer great opportunities for German companies. The development of transport-infrastructure and the logistic perfor-mance is crucial to enhance economic development in KSA. No other country of the region currently invests more into its infrastructure modernization. Examples include the Metro project in Riyadh, the Metro expansion in Makkah and the planned Jeddah Met-ro, the Haramain High Speed Rail Project which links Makkah and Medi-na with 450 km of rails and the Saudi Landbridge that is being built between Jeddah and Riyadh and Jubail and Dammam. Important for pilgrims and visitors, the expansion of Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport Project is under way. A milestone in the de-velopment of the logistics sector in Saudi Arabia is the King Abdullah Port

at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) that has been partly in service since 2013 and is being further ex-panded to become one of the top ten ports worldwide. Saudi Arabia, facing trends of sustained urbanization with an urbanization rate of 88 % by 2025 up from 82.3 % today and an ever-faster expansion of the country’s major cities, has already taken the necessary actions to accommodate the growing population and rising numbers of pil-grims while ensuring the effective operation of the transport infrastructure in the future. Another major topic for KSA is the planned industrial diversification cover-ing the set up of an automotive indus-try, the development of the petrochem-ical downstream industries, of metal and mining industries, of chemical and pharmaceuticals etc. Saudi Arabia is expanding its natural gas, refining, petrochemicals, and electric power industries, seeking to broaden industrial diversification. German companies can serve as part-ners in moving the Saudi economy to broader diversity. The already existing joint ventures between German and Saudi companies stand as examples for the multitude of potentials.

Saudi-German Business Council (SGBC)

Meetings of the SGBC are being organized in Saudi Arabia and Ger-many respectively for liaison and consultation between the business circles of the two countries. SGBC is the only bilateral business-policy body between Germany and Saudi Arabia that is officially recognized and registered by the Saudi side. Thus it is the central dialogue plat-form to harmonize the two countries’ business interests. The objective of the SGBC is to further strengthen bilateral ties and promote the trans-fer of know-how and technology as well as expanding the trade between the private sectors of the two coun-tries. The principal aims of the SGBC are to facilitate direct ex-change of information between the Saudi and German business com-munities regarding economic and market conditions, production, busi-ness opportunities and technological and industrial cooperation. It does so by carrying out systematic business promotional activities in trade, in-vestment, technology transfer, ser-vices and other sectors in and be-tween the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Germany. It provides a regular and recognized forum for discussion

and promotion of these activities between business persons and in-dustrialists of the two countries. SGBC promotes links and agree-ments between German and Saudi businessmen in the sectors of eco-nomic, industrial and technological cooperation (including joint ventures, transfer of technology, licensing and know-how), as well as the implemen-tation of initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral economic relations between Germany and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also encourages businessmen to partici-pate in exhibitions held in the King-dom of Saudi Arabia and in Germa-ny. It is coordinated on the German side by the North Africa Middle East Initi-ative (NMI) which comprises of the following organizations: Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (Federation of German Industries), the Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag (German Chambers of Commerce and Indus-try), the Bundesverband für Außenhandel, Großhandel, Dienstleistungen (Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services), the Afrika-Verein

(German African Business Associa-tion) and the Bankenverband (Asso-ciation of German Banks) and the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) on the Saudi side. Dr. Wolfgang Büchele assumes chairmanship of NMI and Saudi Ger-man Business Council The chairman of the board of directors of Linde AG, Dr. Wolfgang Büchele, assumed the chairmanship of the North Africa Middle East Initiative of German Business (NMI) on 1 October 2014, thus being appointed co-chairman of the Saudi German Busi-ness Council. Before joining Linde AG in May 2014, the 55-year-old holder of a chemistry doctorate was chairman of the board of directors of Finnish chem-ical company Kemira. Between 2009 and 2011 Büchele was head of the board of directors of Hungarian chemi-cal company BorsodChem. Previously, he held positions of responsibility at BASF AG for twenty years. Together with the NMI supporting associations, Büchele wants to ensure that the economic relations between Germany and the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are expanded. “Given the present upheaval in North Africa and the Middle East, the con-structive criticism accompanying the sociopolitical and economic processes in the region has grown more im-portant”, said the designated NMI chairman. “Intensive trade relations and economic growth will have an impact on the young and dynamic societies of these regions.” With nearly 400 million inhabitants, the growth markets of the MENA region offer a huge potential in the areas of trade and industry. In 2013, Germany was the largest European exporter in the MENA region at just over 40 billion Euros, followed by Italy and France. The most important export destinations for German suppliers are still the Unit-ed Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. In particular, the extensive modernisation and investment programmes in the region offer major opportunities for the German export economy.

About the NMI: The NMI was founded in 1996. It is dedicated to the ad-vancement of bilateral economic rela-tions between Germany and the MENA region. With its broad network and country-specific expertise, the NMI is a central point of contact for the companies and the political decision-makers – based both in Germany and in the partner countries – who have questions regarding economic policy and foreign trade. NMI is in charge of organizing the Saudi-German Business Council (SGBC) on the German side and pro-vides advice to the German Govern-ment, facilitating its vast expertise in business and economy (e.g. trade and bilateral agreements on investment). It coordinates and communicates the interests of the German member or-ganizations to political representatives in both, Germany and the countries of the MENA region.

The NMI is supported by the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (Federation of German Indus-tries), the Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag (German Cham-bers of Commerce and Industry), the Bundesverband für Außenhandel, Großhandel, Dienstleistungen (Fed-eration of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services), the Afrika-Verein (German African Business Associa-tion) and the Bankenverband (Associa-tion of German Banks). The NMI net-work also includes the German Cham-bers of Commerce Abroad and delega-tion offices in the region. Thus, NMI represents the interests of the whole German business community in the MENA region. Source: Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. Mitgliedsverband BUSINESSEUROPE

Saudi Delegation visits World’s leading Trade Fair for Organic Food BIOFACH

The German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (AHK Saudi Arabia) in cooperation with GIZ organized the trip of a high-ranking delegation from Saudi Ara-bia headed by H.E. Dr. Khalid M. H. Al Fuhaid, Deputy Minister of Agri-culture, to this year’s Biofach Trade Fair in Nuremberg from 10 to 13 February 2015. The delegation was accompanied by several government officials from the Ministry of Agricul-ture and the Saudi Organic Farming Association. Over 2,400 exhibitors and more than 40,000 trade buyers from approx. 130 countries visited Nuremberg for the 26

th anniversary

in 2015. For the first time the Saudi National Center for Palms & Dates (NCPD) exhibited a variety of its products. The NCPD is a semi-government organization, estab-lished by Royal Decree, in associa-tion with the Council of Saudi Cham-bers and the Ministry of Agriculture. It aims to strengthen the support for production of dates and date prod-

ucts by recognizing the date industry in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Fo-cusing on the highest of industrial standards and quality control, and the encouragement of creativity and innovation in production and pro-cessing they intend to create a strong and sustainable industry that will be an important part of our economy for years to come. The delegation took part in several fo-rums like “The world of organic agri-culture, Statistics and emerging trends” and “The organic market in Germany: facts, figures, analysis”. The trip ended with a dinner on invi-tation of GIZ Organic Farming Pro-ject, Saudi Arabia. GIZ started to support the development of organic agriculture in April 2005. The overall mission of the Organic Farming Pro-ject was to establish a functioning and sustainable organic agriculture sector in Saudi Arabia. Within a mere 10 years, the project has turned organic agriculture in the KSA into a success story. The delegation

was accompanied by the Head of Trade Fair of the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs, Mr. Al-Ameen Al-Dalali. To-gether with VIVANESS, the Interna-tional Trade Fair for Natural Person-al Care, BIOFACH reflects the whole variety of the global market for or-ganic food and natural cosmetics every year. It is an important busi-ness event, an emotional event for the organic sector, and both a get-together and an opportunity for posi-tioning. The spectrum of products at the world's leading exhibition for organic food caters for every wish and a top-class congress rounds off the concept of the exhibition. During the three days of BIOFACH 2015, visitors – international buyers, deci-sion-makers and press representa-tives – from all over the world had the chance to take a closer look onto the most innovative products of the organic sector at the Novelty Stand. Each visitor had the chance to vote for his favorite product in each of the nine categories. Also this year the show “Experience the World of OL-IVE OIL” was meeting place for pro-ducers on the one side and expert visitors on the other side. During three days, exhibitors had the chance to present their high-quality oil while visitors got the chance to taste it. BIOFACH is distinguished by its vigor, internationality and innova-tive power. Under the patronage of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) and with BÖLW (German Federation of the Organic Food Industry) as na-tional supporting organization, BIOFACH guarantees the constantly high quality of the products on dis-play through strict admission criteria. BIOFACH is present throughout the world with its own events in Japan, the United States, South America, China and India.

Saudi Arabian Industrial Development and Cluster Program Forum at Hanover Trade Fair 2015 on April 13

AHK Saudi Arabia invites to at-tend the forum: Saudi Arabian Industrial Development and Cluster Program - Outstanding Business Opportunities for German Businesses at Hanno-ver Messe 2015 – Global Busi-ness & Markets – Hall 6, Busi-ness Forum 2, to be held in Han-over, Germany on the 13th of April 2015 at 9:00 a.m. The event is jointly organized by AHK Saudi Arabia and the National Industrial Cluster Development Program of Saudi Arabia. During the forum investment and business opportunities in Saudi Arabia as well as the perspec-tives for Saudi Arabian German business relations will be dis-cussed. The Saudi government intends to increase the manufacturing share to the GDP to 20 % by 2020. For the purpose of achieving indus-trial diversification, Saudi Arabia has identified four industrial sec-tors as a starting point: automo-tive, minerals and metals pro-cessing, plastic and packaging and solar energy. These sectors, whose advancement is crucial for the sustainable development of the Saudi economy, are pushed on by their respective cluster strategies which will be intro-duced at the Forum. The Automotice Cluster of Saudi Arabia is intended to ena-ble the Kingdom to participate in the global automotive trade mar-ket which generates only in the

MENA region 170 billion SAR worth of imports per year. This is planned to be achieved by developing a fully competitive local automotive industry that covers the entire value chain, starting with the vehicle assem-bly operations over the direct or indirect suppliers of OE automo-tive parts, components, modules and sub-assemblies, as well as the technical support services needed by the industry. The Minerals and Metals Clus-ter aims to establish a sustaina-ble and competitive high value and strategic minerals and met-als processing industries that will enable manufacturing activities in a wide range of end-use indus-tries such as automotive, power generation, packaging, oil and gas and others. The cluster’s strategy is to leverage the King-dom’s advantage of raw materi-als availability and energy com-petitiveness to promote the de-velopment of high value added export oriented and globally competitive products. Current projects under development by the cluster include an integrated titanium metal complex, alumi-num automotive sheets, specialty steel ingots and forged bars, steel & aluminum castings, iron ore mining and pelletizing, silicon metal, steel plate and automotive steel sheets. The Plastic and Packaging Cluster aims to de-velop an export-oriented and globally competitive Plastic and

Packaging industry that leverag-es the Kingdom’s petrochemical resources, as well as the expan-sion of other industries like food and pharmaceuticals, for the purpose of significantly contrib-uting to the diversification of the economy and creating a substan-tial number of rewarding job op-portunities. Saudi Arabia is al-ready producing 100 million tons of petrochemical products per year, 80 % of which is exported. Petrochemical production rose by 20 % per year over the course of the last five years with pace still accelerating. Saudi Arabia wants to place itself under the top ten exporter countries for plastics and packaging by 2020. The fourth industrial cluster is the Solar Energy Cluster, which aims to establish local manufac-turing activities for the solar pow-er industry, thus diversifying the national economy and contrib-uting to the country’s energy mix in the future. It is clear that solar power industries bear enormous potential in Saudi Arabia in sev-eral fields such as power genera-tion, district cooling and seawater desalination. Apart from these clusters, Saudi Arabia considers to venture fur-ther into the pharmaceuticals industry. Its national pharmaceu-tical production is already the largest in the GCC and set to grow by 7.3 % between 2010 and 2020. Therefore the program has initiated market assessment studies in coordination with the Ministry of Health.

The World’s Leading Event for the Dig-ital World

16 – 20 March 2015, Hanover

The only show in the world to provide a complete overview of the latest information and digitization technologies. With “d!conomy” as its lead theme, China as Partner Coun-try, and a solid lineup of inter-national conferences and dis-plays on all the defining trends in IT and digitization, CeBIT is poised for a strong start to its 2015 season this coming March. Held in Hannover, Ger-many, CeBIT is the world’s leading showcase for the digital economy. It is a sharply busi-ness-focused trade fair and conference that explores to-day’s defining market trends of big data, cloud computing, mo-bility, social media and security in unparalleled breadth and depth. d!conomy as lead theme of CeBIT 2015 will center around the rapidly growing in-fluence of IT across all areas of business and society and, as-sociated with this, the role of IT as a key driver of innovation. “In partnership with us, the organ-izers of CeBIT, the IT industry has chosen ‘d!conomy’ as the lead theme for the 2015 show-

case," Oliver Frese, a member of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG, said. “Digitization is everywhere and is shaping ever more dimen-sions of working and social life. IT is transforming existing busi-ness models while at the same time giving rise to completely new ones. Information technol-ogy now has the ability to rapid-ly disrupt entire industries. d!conomy encapsulates this development perfectly.” Over the past few years, the game-changing IT industry trends of big data, cloud computing, mo-bility, social media and security had developed rapidly and were now converging to have a pro-found com-bined impact on both the business world and society generally. “By virtue of con-vergence, fun-damental in-novations wield great transformative power that has already

brought us to the dawn of a new, digital era of industry,” Frese said. China, the official Partner Country for CeBIT 2015, has undergone a rapid process of transformation in recent years, particularly in the IT industry. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be represent-ed for the first time in the Exhi-bition through Mr. Adel Moosa, Arab Sea Information Sys-tems Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The World’s most important Industry Show

13 – 17 April 2015, Hanover HANNOVER MESSE 2015: towards a fully networked industrial future “The trend towards digitization that is sweeping the economy is a powerful force for transfor-mation in the world’s manufac-turing industries,” said Dr. Jochen Köckler, a member of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe, the organizer of Hannover Messe. “Factories and energy systems are digital-ly networked, product develop-ment and release cycles are getting shorter, and new busi-ness models are popping up at an ever faster pace. In this en-vironment, manufacturers who turn their backs on collaboration and try to do everything in-house will ultimately lose out. Increasingly, the companies that get their products to market the quickest and hence stay ahead of the competition will be those which are able to form close networks with all stake-holders in their production pro-cesses. The lead theme chosen for Hannover Messe 2015 – “Integrated Industry – Join the

Network!” – reflects this trend and will help create forward momentum.”The message be-hind “Integrated Industry – Join the Network!” is that the key challenges of the fourth indus-trial revolution – such as achieving universal standards for machine-to-machine com-munication, maintaining data security and finding new busi-ness models – can be mastered only through collective endeav-or in networks. Köckler: “It’s not about whether industrial or IT companies should take the helm. It’s about working togeth-er. Only by working together can companies make the most of the opportunities offered by the fourth industrial revolution. This requires strong networks between the mechanical engi-neering, electrical engineering and IT sectors. HANNOVER MESSE 2015 will showcase the great innovative power that all sectors of industry can unleash if suppliers, manufacturers and

customers join together to form networks of communication and collaboration with the common goal of optimizing products and solutions.”The technological advances that can flow from networking will be made real and tangible at Hannover Messe this coming April. Visi-tors to the fair will witness digi-tally networked production plants, ingenious new produc-tion processes, and next-generation industrial robots live in action. The visitors come to Hannover to explore the future of industry and invest in the latest factory and energy tech-nology on show by some 5,000 exhibitors. Like In 2013, when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was represented through high-profile participation, with a pa-vilion covering 1000 square meters, a Saudi Pavilion and delegation is planned again for 2015.

The Leading International Exhibition for Logistics, Mobility, IT and Supply Chain Management

5 – 8 May 2015, Munich transport logistic in Munich, taking place from May 5 to 8, 2015, has long been a firm date in the diaries of all transport and logistics professionals. Not just for the strong German mar-ket, but for all those involved in the business of transporting goods worldwide. Since its premiere back in 1978 this event, which takes place every two years, has grown into the world´s largest trade exhibition for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management. Throughout all the economic downturns and crises during this time, transport logistic has consistently managed to further expand its reach. This has been boosted, too, by the show´s Asian export, transport logistic China, which takes place every two years in Shanghai, and by the annual event logitrans in Istanbul. The show in 2015 promises a 110,000-m2 display, over 53,000 visitors and over 2,000 exhibitors. The exhibition covers the entire spectrum of services and prod-ucts in the fields of freight transport and logistics, on land and water, by air and rail. Tak-ing part are transport compa-

nies, forwarding agents, rail-ways, combined transport op-erators, maritime and inland ports, shipping companies, air-lines and airports as well as commercial vehicle manufac-turers and IT and telematics suppliers. Accompanying the show is the 7th International Conference for the Global Air Cargo Industry, taking place on May 6, 2015. transport logistic ticket holders have free entry to this confer-ence. The conference consists of two panel discussions: “Data and Security: What’s next?” and “eCommerce in Airfreight”. The world of logistics is experi-encing unprecedented change. Correspondingly, the players in this field – from industry, trade and logistics – want and need to keep up to date with the lat-est information. transport lo-gistic is serving that need in the shape of its wide-ranging and in-depth supporting program. High-ranking experts from in-dustry, the transport sector and politics will be engaging in dis-cussion in the conferences and forums in this program. Thanks to the strong practical bias of these events, participants can

look forward to gaining interest-ing insights into current themes in logistics, ideas which they can take back to their own companies and apply in day-to-day business operations. AHK Saudi Arabia organizes a delegation trip for Saudi businessmen to transport logistic.

Due to the high potential of the Saudi market and the increasing demand of German small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) AHK Saudi Arabia and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Eastern Westphalia (IHK) based in the city of Bielefeld established in the beginning of 2011 the first Saudi Arabia Desk in Germa-ny. The aim of the Saudi Arabia Desk is to intensify the bilateral economic relations. By now IHK is the first contact partner for SMEs in North Rhine-‐Westphalia and the whole of Germany with regard to information and consul-

tancy for business in Saudi Arabia. As the nucleus chamber for the Arabian Gulf in Germany IHK Bielefeld will be able to offer a much better service to all companies. With an exporting volume of approximately 9.248 billion Euros in 2013 the German economy is one of the three most important importing countries for Saudi Arabia and the most important in Europe. Public tenders as well as private projects for several hundred billion Euros are planned in the field of infrastructure, petrochemi-cals, health care and education. Made in Germany are frequently demanded by Saudi decision makers espe-cially when projects are including the needed transfer of technology and know-‐how. In 2013 the German-‐Arab trade volume is worth approximately 11 billion Euros, about the same as in 2012. Exported goods were

foremost machinery, motor vehicles and parts, chemicals, food, metals, electronics and electro technical sup-plies. With the Saudi Arabia Desk IHK and AHK would like to organize common information events and expert sym-posiums in order to inform intensively and detailed about the latest topics of the German-‐Saudi relations and

business opportunities. Furthermore it is planned to build up a strong network with all players and organiza-tions in the German-‐Saudi Arabian business. Additionally business delegations to Saudi Arabia shall be orga-

nized and information about known international trade fairs shall be provided to companies in Saudi Arabia and Germany. More informations: IHK Ostwestfalen, Ines Ratajczak, Tel. 0521 554-101, mailto:[email protected], and Karin Schepelmann, Tel. 0521 554-238, mailto:[email protected].
