AGENDA ITEM NO. 6 NEW PROGRAM ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY- BEEBE Cynthia Moten Associate Director, Academic Affairs

Certificates of Proficiency & Technical Certificate in Power Sports Engines Technology Students will gain the skills to service and repair off-road recreational vehicles that include all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), golf carts, off road motorcycles, outboard motors and some turf management equipment. The program will be offered at the ASU-Searcy Regional Career Center.

AGENDA ITEM NO. 7 NEW PROGRAM COSSATOT COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS Cynthia Moten Associate Director, Academic Affairs

Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy Assisting The program is designed to train students for careers as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Employers in southwest Arkansas and east Texas have expressed a need for COTAs to provide services to hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes and home health agencies.

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering The biomedical engineering program is designed to prepare students for human healthcare by interfacing engineering, medical, and biological sciences. Students will focus on applications of bioengineering to prevent, detect, and treat medical conditions. Graduates will receive preparation for medical school as well as be able to succeed in the practice of engineering.

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing The program is designed to give Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) the option to pursue a Registered Nurse (RN) degree. Graduates will be eligible to apply for a RN license through the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

Relevant Information $2.0 million for 15 years @ a rate not to exceed 4.0% Education & General purposes Revenue Funding Sources: Tuition and Fees Proceeds will be used to fund the construction of a classroom building in Jonesboro for the Arkansas State University-Newport Technical Center Based on 14,000 gross square feet, $35,000 will be transferred annually for maintenance (14,000 x $2.50 = 35,000)
