Agricultural machinery has modified the very nature of farming. The types and functions of agricultural machinery have been developing since the first human abandoned hunting and turned to the land.

When our early ancestors abandoned the hunting and collecting lifestyle and turned to growing food from the land, they most likely did so with no help from tools. At the most, they utilized sticks and their naked hands. When they developed raw plows and scythes, these tools ruled agricultural for centuries. Although today, the Industrial Revolution has modified the nature of agricultural, the types and functions of agricultural machinery are still related to the like jobs that needed to be performed by these early agricultural pioneers.

Although machinery has modified the nature of agricultural greatly and has emancipated the majority of the population from its demands to look for a different employment, the like operation is utilized as was always used. As agricultural machinery grew larger and more resourceful of performing solid amounts of work quickly, less humans were needed to produce the food needed by the population. Today, less than 2% of the population is actively busy in agricultural, but they produce more food than the other 98% needs to survive. Although the types, and the size and capacity for work, of agricultural machinery is still rapidly developing, the functions stay basically the like. Farmers are still coaxing food from the earth, they are just doing it faster, easier, and more efficiently with machinery.
