Intelligence replaces copper – Niederstetten, Deutschland

One application for multiple purpose

Customer environment: • Two electrical circuits with 84 distribution substations (19 customer stations)

separated by two normal open points

• Up to 18 km-long segments with a large share of overhead lines (45% cable grid)

• High renewable generation and industrial load in different MV-Feeder

Use cases: • Automated switching for isolation and service restoration

• Optimization of Volt/ VAR Condition

Implementation: • Control: 1x regional controller

• Automation: 9 intelligent distribution substations equipped with Remote Terminal Unit, Feeder Condition Monitoring, Power Quality Devices 2 Line voltage regulators (MV),

Features: Regional controller includes

• Self-healing for outage management

• Fault detection

• Fault isolation and Service Restoration

• Area voltage control

• Voltage measurement

• Control of line voltage regulator
