What is Agile? In February 2001, 17 software developers met at the Snowbird resort in Utah to discuss lightweight development methods.

1. Individuals and interactions over Processes and tools

2. Working software over Comprehensive documentation

3. Customer collaboration over Contract negotiation

4. Responding to change over Following a plan

Agile vs WaterfallIn Agile, it is easier to correct the trajectory every Sprint

Page 7: Agile - A Super Quick Introduction

• Sprint = usually 2 weeks

• Product Owner = represents the stakeholders and the voice of the customer

• Story = short and simple description of a feature told from the perspective of the person who desires the new capability.

• Velocity = How many stories the team is able to deliver in one Sprint

• Backlog = List of ALL the stories

Terms to remember

The two I’s

The Benefits

Page 9: Agile - A Super Quick Introduction

Benefit 1 - Interactions

• Developers and the product owner interact on a daily basis

• Developers show the stake holders working software, NOT documentation every 2 weeks

Page 10: Agile - A Super Quick Introduction

Benefit 2 - Insight

• Every two weeks we have a more accurate team velocity

• A very accurate way to come up with a delivery date

• backlog / velocity = how many sprints to delivery

Page 11: Agile - A Super Quick Introduction

That’s great… but I have a hard deadline!

What do I do?

Page 12: Agile - A Super Quick Introduction

If your velocity gives you a delivery date beyond your deadline, then try manipulating

the scope, cost or schedule.
