This conference series, which has been alternating annually between London and Houston since 2002, has evolved into the premier event for technical discussions and networking on exploration and geosciences in Africa. With attendances in recent years reaching over 600; including operators, consultants, governments and academia, there is a large poster programme in addition to the oral programme of over 25 high quality talks covering E&P in all regions of Africa. This is complemented by a lively exhibition floor which boasts over 50 exhibitors. Awards Following its success in 2013, this initiative will return in 2015 where a panel of judges will review all oral and poster presentations and make the following prize awards: Best Poster Paper, Best Oral Paper and Best Student Presentation.

The judging panel (drawn from a selection of experienced working explorationists) will use a formal marking scheme to ensure fairness. Marks will be awarded for relevance and interest to the delegates, originality and new ideas, technical quality and clarity.

Petroleum Basins of Sub-Saharan Africa CourseDelegates have the opportunity to register for this additional one-day course presented by Duncan MacGregor on Wednesday 2 September, in conjunction with the PESGB/HGS African E&P Conference. It aims to provide an overview of the tectonic, climatic and topographic controls exerted on Sub-Saharan petroleum systems and resulting hydrocarbon distribution. This course is aimed at young geoscientists working on Africa and experienced staff working within licences and requiring a regional overview or refresher.
