MICHELANGELO RUCCI
PORT Adelaide coach KenHinkley has not only dumped histwo-ruckmen system, but also thetwo ruckmen he has played in thepast month.Jarrad Redden, who was dis-
carded before ShowdownXXXIV with Adelaide on April14, deservedly returns to thePower line-up as a solo ruckmanreplacing both Matthew Lobbeand Brent Renouf. And Redden’s impressive work
as a forward in the SANFL withWoodville-West Torrens alsohas forced the Power to dismissPaul Stewart for tomorrow after-noon’s clash with Richmond atAAMI Stadium. This leaves Redden and key
forward Justin Westhoff to forma tandem in ruck - against IvanMaric and Orren Stephenson -while switching in attack.‘‘His SANFL form has eight
goals in his past two games,’’ saidHinkley yesterday of Redden.‘‘That is really important to havea ruckman who can go forwardand influence the game.‘‘It is a signficant adjustment,’’
added Hinkley of abandoning thetwo-ruckmen policy. To fill the 22 after dumping
Renouf, Redden and Stewartfrom the team that fell 10 pointsshort of North Melbourne,Hinkley recalled Andrew Mooreand promoted Central Districthalf-back Sam Colqhoun for hisfirst AFL game. The All-Australian under-18 was the Pow-er’s first pick (No. 3) in the pre-season draft.Port again was not able to call
up defender Jasper Pittard, whohas nowmissed three games witha hip injury.‘‘It is disappointing because we
thought it would be only a weekand it has turned into three,’’ saidHinkley. ‘‘It is an injury we have
to be careful with, particularlywhen Jasper’s history tells us itis not something we want to takea risk with.‘‘I’ll say again that he will be
right next week, but I can’t guar-antee that.’’RICHMOND lost critical
midfield power with TrentCotchin being unavailable with aknee injury. This puts BrettDeledio in the frame for a hardtag from Kane Cornes.‘‘They have a high-class
midfield,’’ said Hinkley highlight-ing Cornes could havemany jobs.‘‘It could be Dustin Martin,Deledio and Shane Edwards. Peo-ple forget there are many - Rich-mond has a high-quality midfield.‘‘We think we are an improving
midfield ourselves. We look for-ward to the opportunity to takethem on and see how we go.’’The Tigers also recalled
midfielder Shane Tuck and ener-getic forward Robin Nahas who
has repeatedly tormented thePort defence.ADELAIDE will name its
match 22 today with captainNathan van Berlo ready toresume against Greater WesternSydney at Skoda Stadium in Syd-ney on Sunday.Van Berlo will resume after
recovering from bone bruisingfrom a knock to a knee in therecent Showdown.Crows coach Brenton Sander-
son has put van Berlo, smallforward Ian Callinan, utilityRicky Henderson and upgradedrookie Rory Laird in contentionfor recalls tonight.Out of the 22who failed against
Hawthorn to send Adelaide to a2-4 count is Richard Tambling, whose chances of playing AFLagain are narrowing.GWS regained Port Adelaide
premiership ruckman Dean Bro-gan for its 25-man squad that willbe trimmed to 22 this evening.
