Affordable Care Act (ACA)Implementation
• Starting January 2015, employers will have to offer health insurance to employees working more than 30 hours per week
• The University System of Georgia is considered the employer
• System-wide reporting will be required

• Rules for temporary employees have changed– No longer 6 months plus a 6 month extension– Now, 1,300 hours per a 12 month period– Hours can be in any combination, but can not
exceed 1,300– New clock started on May 1, 2014

• Transition Period from May 1, 2014 to October 31, 2014– May 1 vs May 2– Transition Period employees are limited to 744
hours between May 1 and October 31– If they exceed that number, they will become
benefits eligible in 2015
