Albena is the name of Bulgarian sea resort with a long history and traditions. For over than 40 years Albena is the symbol of the North sea coast of Bulgarian Black Sea, in its most natural and pure appearance. As a proof of this fact is „Blue Flag“ prize awarded for environmental purity of the sea, the resort beach and the surrounding area.

Black Sea marvelous sandy beach, remarkable nature and exciting views provide unique opportunities for recreation. The perfect management and organization of the resort present a lot of opportunities for entertainment and various sport activities. The guests and visitors can enjoy Aquamania waterpark attractions, the beach library, a lot of restaurants, clubs, to attend or to participate in chess and tennis tournaments, and many other activities. It offers also great opportunities for various celebration parties, seminars, trainings and corporate events.

This wide array of entertainment and sport activities is usually advertised primarily with printed materials, distributed in the hotels lobbies and rooms, whereupon there is a real risk the most of them to remain neglected and unnoticed. The task of digital media is to minimize this risk.

The Solution

Actually, digital media in hotels, as a concept, existed for many years.So far, most often, it was presented as dedicated hotel „TV channel”, broadcasted in all hotel rooms. The idea is to provide the guests an easy access to useful and complete information about the services they can use within the hotel - restaurants, fun activities and entertainment for all ages, thematic tours and excursions, etc.

One of the main advantages of digital media technology is the option for a remote management and for frequently updating of media content. This would be a guarantee for immediate announcement of current information at the right place and the right time.

displays and media players. Two 55-inch professional displays that

are arranged for functioning in video wall mode were installed in the hotel lobby. The displays are managed by a media player. The purpose is to capture the hotel guests’ attention in an easy and pleasant way. This will assure that more people will receive necessary information that is useful for their enjoyable stay in the hotel.

Centrally managed media content

includes Albena Resorts advertising video, a lot of useful information, visually appealing presentations with pictures and interesting facts about flora and fauna environment in forest reserve “Baltata Natural Reserve”; offers and proposals for various opportunities for entertainment and sport activities, medical services and SPA treatment throughout the resort area in Bulgarian, English and Russian languages.

Good content management means to create an attractive design and to provide the right messages to appear at the right time in places where customers can easily see them. This will ensure a better chance for the guests and visitors to be informed about the current offers and services.

The initial concept of the project is not only to convey video clips and full motion graphics transmitted by professional widescreen displays, but to extend the overall positive guests’ and hotel employees’ experience and satisfaction.

The integration of digital media solution in Albena Resort started as a pilot project in the four-star hotel „Gergana“ and the system includes software application – content management system and hardware –

Results

Among the main advantages of Digital Media are the opportunity to cover a significantly wider audience range and to broadcast immediately appropriate target messages and information at the right place and the right time.

Initial information about the provided tourist services, visualized with the help of modern digital technology, available at the right time, can be a starting point for further communication with customers.

The software platform enables flexible and centralized management of the content as well as its attractive presentation. Thus the Digital Media is converted in a contemporary effective tool for attracting and retaining the attention of guests to the offered products and services.

Digital Media also contributes to the good image of the resort, enhances the contact with the guests and encourages them to take the advantage of more entertainment proposals and services that would help them to spend a great vacation.

Albena Resort and RISK Electronics co-operation

Following the preliminary negotiations, RISK Electronics specialists visited Gergana hotel to investigate the site and to suggest an appropriate location and the right installation scheme that would ensure smooth and secure operation of the displays.

The customer had a specific requirement to the media content visualization mode. The proposed solution should ensure video wall operation mode on two screens and also the option for an independent operation of each display.

RISK Electronic designers held a lot of discussions with the hotel marketing department in order to select and to arrange the necessary information and to create a content design, fully corresponding to the corporate vision. In accordance to the accepted concept, RISK Electronics design team tried to create easy to perceive and to remember images, that combine Albena Resort familiar vision with the appearance of a modern and contemporary holiday village.

Sharing up-to-date and immediately broadcasting of appropriate target messages and information at the right place and the right time is critical to the success of Digital media.

Albena Resort marketing department is engaged to provide the necessary information for the current media content updates.

The content solution includes:

• Remote server hosting for storing of information

campaigns video resources

• 24 x 7 remote monitoring and support,

which means, that in case of player or display failure,

RISK Electronics service specialist will contact the

customer for initial, on site, check of internet connection,

display status etc. Our experience proves that the most

frequently occurring problems could be

solved remotely

• This type of service includes also software

insurance. The customer receives all new system

updates, permanent current support, future upgrades

and the option for expanding of platform functionalities,

without additional investments.

Future steps

Albena Resort provides complex tourist services and a wide range of sport, leisure entertainments as well as congress tourism. The Resort offers balneology, SPA, classic and exotic rehabilitation and beauty procedures; excellent facilities and very good conditions for different sports activities and competitions - three football fields, a hockey field, four indoor pools, outdoor and indoor tennis courts, water sports etc. Various events are held in the resort all year-round – including private events and business meetings to large corporate events, festivals, conferences, congresses, symposia, trainings, proms, wedding parties, training camps and competitions, etc., many of which are international.

The next steps for adding new useful functionalities, associated to promotion of services and ongoing events within the resort complex could be:

• Out-door digital media installations. Installing of out-

door totems would help to expand the target audience

coverage. This would provide an additional opportunity

for the visitors outside the hotels to be informed about

events and initiatives within the resort complex, that are

currently taking place or are about to take place.

• Installation of outdoor kiosks with touch displays for

reading of digital menus in front of the restaurants. This

is a convenient and easy way to inform the guests about

the menu and the prices.

• Installation of indoor kiosks for in the hotel lobbies.

The guests would be able to inform themselves about

transport services they might need, city maps, medical

and SPA appliances and services, nearby attractions,

tours, overall tourist information, etc.

•Appropriate solution for the resort congress center and

conference halls in the hotelsThese could be embedded

displays, installed in front of the halls that provide

information about current events, subjects, presenters’

names, event duration and forthcoming program.
