1 THE EURASIAN AUGUST 2013 VOL 41 ISSUE 16 aeawa.asn.au Thank you.. thank you…thank you, dear members and friends, for continuing to to attend our Sunday lunches with another great turnout of close to 180 people for our July winter lunch! It may have been cold outside but there was a warm friendly atmosphere inside with friendships, laughter, music and food abound. Many thanks to Clifford Sequerah and his fantastic singers for the music, all our wonderful volunteers who helped with the set up and clear up and every thing else in between and July’s food coordinator Brian Leicester and his able team of cooks! Well done everyone! Last month we had the Seniors committee organise a Christmas in July coach & lunch trip to South Yunderup and the Sports & Games team put together a ten pin bowling session. I had the privilege of attending both events and must admit that I really had a fantastic time. I encourage you to please join in these activities as the organisers go to great lengths to make it lots of fun…..and it usually is! More details can be found inside…. As the months roll by the Silver Jubilee Steering Committee is frantically putting together plans for what will hopefully be our Associations biggest event - our Silver Jubilee Ball! Our ultimate goal is for our members to have the best time ever but we all know how expensive ‘parties’ can be so our toughest decision therefore is striking the right balance. Just remember it will be a members only, formal ball…..stay tuned for more details soon! Our next Sunday lunch will be 11 th August and it’s our ‘International Day’ lunch so dress up in your National best……kebaya’s, kurong’s, cheongsam’s, sari etc!!! We have our entertainment all lined up for a brilliant afternoon of music, dancing, feasting and we’ll even have a foreign song competition at the band’s break as well …..our own “Eurasianvision”!!! At the August lunch we will be “tweaking” the lunch voucher system, just a little bit to hopefully iron out a few small issues that we have had. Please read the changes as outlined on page 3. The Community Services team have done exceedingly well and have organised another forum for the benefit of our members. Our very own Brian Leicester will enlighten us on ‘Quarantine Issues’ straight after the August lunch. All you frequent travellers who ask “What can I bring in?”….well he’ll have all the answers so don’t miss this one! The Seniors have a Royal Flying Doctors Tour on the 19 th of August…details of both are inside. Finally, please remember in your thoughts and prayers our recently deceased friends and mem- bers and all those in our community who are ill. We are a close knit community and we want to share their grief and pain. And as the song goes…..“Reach out and touch, somebody’s hand and make this world a better place if we can”. See you all at the August Sunday lunch! Chad

CHANGES TO THE

LUNCH VOUCHERS

To serve the lunches faster, a lunch

voucher needs to be purchased –this is

how it works:

purchase a coloured numbered

lunch voucher at the entrance,

currently $6 for a main meal

(discounted rates for members over

80 or 90.)

if a side dish is available this may

also be purchased at the same time

when the number on the coloured

voucher is called, please present

your voucher at the kitchen to re-

ceive your meal.

(N.B: One ticket = one main meal + side

dish).

A gentle plea - please have the correct

amount handy to save us running

out of change.

In the unfortunate event that we run out of

all meals, we will refund your money.

(Cakes are sold after the

lunch service has finished)

COMMUNITY SERVICES TALK

SUNDAY 11TH AUGUST 2PM-3PM
