National Demonstrator Project – Phase 1B

• Extension to successful “National Demonstrator Project” • – funded by DCITA grant + participant contributions

• Project Scope - To test the concept of electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) using the EPC gen 2 RFID standards and EPC network.

• Empty Chep pallet deliveries to manufacturers & 3PLs will be tagged with EPC RFID tags

• Pallets will be read out of Chep warehouse & into recipients warehouses with supporting pallet tracking systems being automatically updated with pallet delivery confirmations. (Date, time & specific pallet numbers).

• Project commences Nov 2006 & due for project completion & report by April 2007

• Participants• Manufacturers – Masterfoods (Mars), Proctor &Gamble, Capilano Honey• 3PL – Westgate Logistics (on behalf of SME), Linfox (P&G)• Chep – Pallets• RMIT & GS1 – Project Management & technical advice• Telstra – RFID Infrastructure & technical support

National Demonstrator Project – Phase 2

• Phase 2 planned to commence in 2007

• Will be open to all interested EPC Global Australia members

• Aim to seek Government funding assistance to complement participant investment

• Potentially 3 business applications will be implemented in parallel

• Proposal that NDP2 should be overseen by the EPC Advisory Group

• GS1 Australia must contribute to the GS1 HO budget for EPCglobal

• We have 3 x EPCglobal User categories- Companies with HO in Australia- Companies with HO o/seas- Associations

• We propose the following fee approach for the EPC/RFID Advisory Group (new members joining EPCglobal Australia)

F2006 50% of fee for remaining 6 mthsF2007 50% of annual feeF2008 100% of annual fee
