ADVENT PLACEMATS
Materials for each placemat:
1 large white piece of construction paper
4 strips of green paper
3 purple stars
1 pink star
4 gold peel-off stars
Advent prayer
Glue sticks
Markers
A sample placemat will be in the room as a guide.
MAKE SURE ALL THE CHILDREN PUT THEIR NAMES (FIRST AND
LAST) ON THE BACK!!!!
Using glue sticks, place the stars on first and label them as shown on the
sample.
Next glue the strips connecting them.
Glue the prayer in the middle.
After everyone is finished, have an interactive conversation about the four
guide words for the weeks of Advent (Here are some conversation starters):
Week 1 – Hope ( What kinds of things should we hope and pray for?)
Week 2 – Peace (How can we model peace in our lives and world?)
Week 3 – Joy (Why is this the week of joy?)
Week – Love (God so loved the world…John 3:16)
(We suggest making sure the children finish the placemat before you
start the reflection, or else they will not get it done).
Loyola online Advent information:
http://www.loyolapress.com/liturgical-year-advent.htm
Collect all the placemats and put them back in your clip with your class
name and place the stack by the supplies. We will laminate them and get
them to the kids the first week in December.
