WELCOME
Awake! Awake and Greet the New Morn
#242 ELW
Awake! Awake, and greet the new mornfor angels herald its dawning.
Sing out your joy, for soon he is born, behold! the Child of our longing.Come as a baby weak and poor,
to bring all hearts together, he opens wide the heav'nly doorand lives now inside us forever.
To us, to all in sorrow and fear, Emmanuel comes a
singing, his humble song is quiet and
near, yet fills the earth with its
ringing; music to heal the broken soul
and hymns of loving-kindness,
the thunder of his anthems roll
to shatter all hatred and blindness.
In darkest night his coming shall be, when all the world is
despairing,as morning light so quiet and free,
so warm and gentle and caring. Then shall the mute break forth in
song, the lame shall leap in wonder, the weak be raised above the
strong, and weapons be broken asunder.
Rejoice, rejoice, take heart in the night, though dark the winter and
cheerless, the rising sun shall crown you with light, be strong and loving
and fearless.Love be our song and love our prayer
and love our endless story; may God fill ev'ry day we shareand bring us at last into glory.
ADVENT CANDLE LITANY P: Today is the third Sunday of Advent, the Sunday of Joy.
All: Our joy is in God, and in his Son, Jesus Christ. Like peace, joy is a gift from God. It overtakes us and fills us when we remember what God has done and what he has promised to do.
P: We light this candle today to remind us that Christ came to earth as a child so that all people might have a rich and abundant life.
All: We thank God for the hope he gives us, for the peace he bestows, and for the joy he pours into our hearts.
A CANDLE IS BURNING
A Candle is burning, a flame warm and bright,a candle of hope in the
winter’s dark night. While angels sing blessing From heaven's starry sky,
our hearts we prepare now For Jesus is nigh.
.
A Candle is burning, a candle of peace,a candle to signal
that conflict must cease:
for Jesus is coming to show us the way;a message of peace
humbly laid in the hay.
A Candle is burning, a candle of joy,
A candle to welcome brave Mary’s new boy.
Our hearts fill with wonder, and eyes light
and glowAs joy brightens winter like sunshine on snow.

Hymn #723 ELW
Canticle of the Turning
My soul cries out with a joyful shoutthat the God of my heart is great,
And my spirit sings of the wondrous thingsthat you bring to the ones who wait.
You fixed your sight on your servant's plight,
and my weakness you did not spurn,So from east to west shall
my name be blest.Could the world be about to turn?
My heart shall sing of the day you bring.Let the fires of your justice burn.
Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near,
and the world is about to turn
Though I am small, my God, my all,you work great things in me,
And your mercy will last from the depths of the past to the end of the age to be.
Your very name puts the proud to shame, and to those who would for you yearn,
You will show your might, put the strong to flight, for the world is
about to turn.
My heart shall sing of the day you bring.Let the fires of your justice burn.
Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near,
and the world is about to turn
From the halls of power to the fortress tower,
not a stone will be left on stone.Let the king beware for your justice tears
ev'ry tyrant from his throne. The hungry poor shall weep no more,
for the food they can never earn; There are tables spread,
ev'ry mouth be fed,for the world is about to turn.
My heart shall sing of the day you bring.Let the fires of your justice burn.
Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near,
and the world is about to turn
Though the nations rage from age to age,we remember who holds us fast:
God's mercy must deliver usfrom the conqueror's crushing grasp.
This saving word that our forebears heardis the promise which holds us bound,
'Til the spear and rod can be crushed by God,
who is turning the world around.
My heart shall sing of the day you bring.Let the fires of your justice burn.
Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near,
and the world is about to turn
My heart shall sing of the day you bring.Let the fires of your justice burn.
Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near,
and the world is about to turn

maker of heaven and earth,of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,begotten, not made,

For us and for our salvationhe came down from heaven;
was incarnate of the Holy Spiritand the virgin Mary,
and became truly human. For our sake he was
crucified under Pontius Pilate;he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose againin accordance with the scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge
the living and the deadand his kingdom will have no end. We
believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who
proceeds from the Father and the Son,who with the Father and the Son
is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

HOLY COMMUNION
P: We come again to the table to be made new. The cup of love and the bread of life have been given for all to share. In them we are nourished by the very Christ whom we worship.
All: Blessed are you, Lord of heaven and earth, for you have so loved the world that you gave your only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
P: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: “Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” Again after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: “This cup is the New Covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.”
All: O Lord, send now your Holy Spirit upon us, and upon these your gifts, that according to your Word they may be sanctified and blessed.
The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trialand deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever.Amen.
