GENERAL INFORMATION

Date of establishment: 2014

Territory: The area of influence is the department of Valle del Cauca, reaching 22,195 km², including 42 municipalities and with a population of 424,750 inhabitants.

The major part of the department extension reach Western and Central Andes Mountains, in the geographic valley of the Cauca river, where its name is coming from. The department host numerous national parks (Farallones of Cali, Bahía Málaga and Malpelo Island), and share some other national parks areas with more departments (Las Hermosas, Nevado del Huila, Tatamá).

Members:  Public Sector (5): Local administration of Roldanillo, La Unión, Bolívar, Trujillo, El Dovio; Government of Valle del Cauca; Private Sector (9): business asociations (APROCOL, ASORUT, ASOPANAR, CORTUVA, ASOGANALECTOR, ASOGANABOL, ASPROAGRO, LOS HATEÑOS, ASOGAPROLER); Social Sector (2) ECOFUTURO, CORPOVERSALLES.

Main objectives:

To potentiate the territorial strengths, through the revitalization of public, private and social strategic actions, following the territorial planning, integrating and including the local actors, and achieving an harmonious and sustainable development; these goals will be achieved through using the endogenous potential of the territory, reconciling the productive needs with cultural identity, and creating strategic alliances with various categories of actors and institutions. Economic Impact

ADEL Brut Nova has supported 125 production units that belong to the prioritized value chains: handicrafts, tourism, horticulture, dairy, environment and banana (created by the LEDA). In this way the LEDA has been generating 2,150 jobs, and benefiting 5136 people, through services for business strengthening, administrative management, strategic planning, partnership improvement, participatory project formulation, resource management, technical assistance, commercial support, territorial marketing, construction of public policy at local and departmental level, inter-institutional articulation.

Strategic Impact

The LEDA has managed to include "local economic development" guidelines within the 2012-2015 municipal development plans and departmental development plan.

The LEDA participates in the construction of the Departmental Public Policy on Food and Nutrition Sovereignty, mainly in its component: “Availability, Environment, Quality and Safety Supply”, with the aim of formulating the Local Purchase program for the North of the Valley.

Environmental Impact.

One of the main LEDA priorities is to support the environmental protection and reforestation, as well as the resources management plans.

Social Impact

Adel Brut Nova has scheduled a training program on local economic development for the economic stakeholders of Valle del Cauca department.

National Impact

The LEDA is the territorial reference organization running the Ministry of Commerce program called “Fresh Fruit Competitive Road”, in the Valle del Cauca department.

The LEDA, through Red ADELCO, carries on advocacy initiatives on national policies.

OTHER

Projects

Adel Brut Nova is implementing a project of a plant for post-harvest papaya, which is going to favor the local export.

The LEDA has been successfully selected for project proposals on Agricultural Regional Pact (CONSEA), and Community Tourism (IDB AECID - CAIXA).

There are nine project profiles realized for the governmental tender "Microenterprise Fund Capitalization"; those project profiles are under evaluation.

It has also formulated 7 Projects of Municipal Agricultural Pacts, and one related to microfinance operations, with resources from the “Social Bank of the poor” program, from the Valle del Cauca Government.

Networking

The LEDA is part of the Colombian LEDA Network, Red ADELCO; it is also part of the International Network, ILS LEDA.
