Yes, you should be able to open and update Office 2003 documents with Office 2007. You can also save documents in the Office 2003 format to share with users who do not have Office 2007.

If you are using Office 2003 and wish to view Office 2007 documents, you must install the free Microsoft Office Compatibility pack. (Please note that you must have all service packs and security updates installed in your version of Office before you install the compatibility pack.) Q: Can I get a copy of Office 2007 if I already purchased Office 2003?

Office 2007 is available for all Online and Graduate students to purchase (at a minimal fee) and is free to campus-based students. It is available even if you purchased the Office 2003 bundle in the past.

Q: Do I have to upgrade to Office 2007?

Not at this point in time, but by July 2008, all classes will be required to use the Office 2007 software. You will have the option to continue to use Office 2003 on your home computer and use Office 2007 via iLabs If you haven’t used iLabs before, try it out.

Q: When will my classes start using Office 2007?

COMP100 began using Office 2007 starting with the November 2007 term. BIS155 began using Office 2007 starting with the January 2008 term.BIS245 began using Office 2007 starting with the March 2008 term.All classes will be required to use the Office 2007 software for the July 2008 term. Many instructors are already giving students the option to use Office 2003 or 2007.

Q: Since I already had taken my COMP100 class and it used Office 2003, will I have to retake the course? Is there a tutorial on Office 2007 products?

You should not have to purchase a new laptop or desktop. However, you may need to upgrade your current hardware. Q: How do I install the new software? Is there a certain procedure I need to follow?

Q: On how many computers can I install the software I receive from the Student Software Center (how many licenses)?

Under the licensing agreement you sign when you order the software, you are eligible to install this package on ONE desktop computer and one mobile computer. If you should need to re-install on the same computer, you are eligible to re-install three times.

Q: Can I run both Office 2007 and Office 2003?

If your computer has the hard drive space available and the appropriate specifications, you may run both versions on the same computer. Generally, Office 2007 will become the default application that will open when you click on an Office file. To open an Office file in Office 2003, you will need to use the File - Open command in Office 2003.
